so what can we do to improve our atmosphere next season on the Kop? I'm expecting south and Westfield to step it up as there will be bigger away support at the lane next season but Kop has been terrible for a few years now

Bullshit

I hope it's positive, but I have the feeling that there will be hostile atmospheres at games while we're playing poorly, especially at home, and especially if we're struggling in the league. Take a look at this season. We're absolutely storming it, and usually the feeling is very good around the ground. But there have been times this season where I've seen a negative reaction from the crowd, even if we're not losing. There's an impatience to Blades fans - Understandable, considering our recent history, but sometimes I've been disappointed by the reaction we've given as a set of fan to our players. I'd like to think we're a positive bunch, and that a promotion would feed that, but it might be quite different when we're in 23rd in the league and 2-0 down at half time to Ipswich at home. We'll see.

away fans

I know it is psychological, but if and when we get out of this division I will feel it is a fresh start and we can move onwards and upwards. I will have hope rather than dread of disappointment because we will have shown we can do it. I know that if we get there it is going to be tough against teams with £70 mill to spend, but I'm going to enjoy it WHEN IT HAPPENS. There will be no problem with me sitting there biting my nails all game like this season. I suspect many of the older fans may feel the same.

We need a singing section and i suggest that people try to pen their own songs, perhaps posting their lyrics here.

Its the only way to improve things. The only way

FFS, let's get promoted before we start shitting the bed because some fucker might not join in with the stage managed pre kick off rendition of Annie's Song. I hope you're in the 10 to 17 age group Tom Tom, because if you're any older than that you need to either get a grip or masturbate more.

(One for you that Bladepicker ;) )

I think this is bang right. I know that I've spent the vast majority of the games this season fretting about the results more than i usually do. Think it is just down to the sheer number of times Utd have kicked me in the bollox that I almost expect the impossible to happen and amother kick in the bollox is just around the corner.

If/when we go up, I will be ecstatic, enjoy and immerse myself in that feeling of football supporting happiness, and will have a huge smile on my chops for the duration of the summer.

Come next season, with the exception of Utd making sure that they are not in any relegation trouble, I have no expectations of Utd and I will happily sit back and just enjoy the ride again - glad to be back in the championship and seeing Utd competing again with their more traditional foes.

It's the fear factor that makes this season a mixture of enjoyment and apprehension. I just want Utd to get up asap so that I can properly enjoy the final few games of being in this god forsaken league. Nearly there.

Beggars belief some times.

Enjoy these rare seasons rather than fretting about what the atmosphere might be like in 5 months time FFS

Agreed. Given the awfulness of the last 6 seasons, some people will have forgotten what the 'normal' BDTBL is like. With significant away followings, it will bring out the best in our fans. Have you ever watched the Blades play at Anfield? As it's a pretty bog-standard game for the Scousers, the ground isn't a 'You'll Never Walk Alone'-athon. In fact, their DJ has to rev up the kop by playing the song to get people going. (Rather like Gary Sinclair and 'You fill up...')

No ground in England is as raucous as some will have you believe. Arsenal is The Library. Man. City have attracted a whole new generation of hangers-on who don't know the songs.

But given what we've collectively gone through and the superb numbers who've stuck by us, average 26k crowds next season* will continue to make BDTBL a very special place.

*The Blades can stay down as well as go up.

I hope no-one is suggesting that bigger away support, us being seen as underdogs, naked tribalism, a committed team and manager, a renewed sense of belief, shirking off the embarrassment of being in the third division for so long, game-changing investment and a few extra thousand blades on the gate will disturb my reading of "A Tale of Two Cities".Heaven forbid. Where would I relocate? The Central Library ? Nope that will be a a Chinese Hotel. Never mind.I am sure the boys can engineer a car-crash to ensure that my literary education continues. :p

Last few weeks have been a bit of a blur for me, for sundry reasons (few of them good), but I'm pretty sure our top-of-the-table lads were booed off at HT in one recent home game ?
