That Derby fa cup game 1970. I remember very well. my first away trip. I was 12 years old.went in my uncles' car.walked up to the turnstiles got straight in no cue.walked up some steps onto the terrace behind the goal.it was packed. I did not know if the fans were from derby or Sheffield.my dad said get thi sen tu, front lad.i said how it is packed. he picked me up with one hand.at put me on the shoulder of this bloke. then I was passed down to the front. after about 20 min. derby nearly scored. the crowd surged forward. and I got squashed a bit.i was not scared. next min I got grabbed by a copper. and he put me on the running track or whatever they called it. the copper said you will be ok there.in fact, you can see it on youtube. I try to spot my self but just can,t because a few other kids were put there as well.at half time we were told to go back onto the terrace.no further problems with the crowd after that.i do remember Currie for England chants. we lost 3-0 but I wasn't bothered.i also remember the ground capacity was 40,000.yet over 41,000 was given as the official attendance..no health and safety in those days.
