At least someone knows how to sort a boycott...

They must be crazy.

They'll miss the chance to salivate over the next generation of Reading players.

I think we should play our under 21's against Leicester btw.

"We thought if fans boycotted the games completely, the club would suffer financially through no fault of their own.

How will this affect the club financially if they've paid to go in, and then walk out???

if not then it will have the reverse effect as they'll all be counted in the attendance figure to show how successful an idea it was.

haha fair point, everyone turns up to walk out and the competition gets record attendances

It won't, because instead of a boycott, they've planned a walk-out.

Id rather give the club a tenner towards the fine and stay at home.

I'd rather all the clubs didn't vote for this ridiculous idea in the first place. Remember when they wanted to put Premiership b sides into the lower leagues, I guess that was warming us to the idea.

I think it'll turn out to be a one season wonder, your second point is more the elephant in the room, I can see that happening at some point. Not that I agree with it of course, I just think it will be the next daft idea.

It's almost as if they have a book, "how to fuck up football, a users guide".

Everyone should attend the normal games and then no one against the b team.

The Blades will play two home matches against Leicester City's U21s in August and Walsall in October, prior to a trip to Blundell Park to face Grimsby Town in November.

The details of the aforementioned fixtures in full are as follows.

Sheffield United v Leicester City
Tuesday 30th August, Kick off 7.45pm

Sheffield United v Walsall
Tuesday 4th October, Kick off 7.45pm

Grimsby Town v Sheffield United
Tuesday 8th November, Kick off 7.45pm

Ticket news for the EFL Trophy matches will be announced in due course.

At home to Leicester is the one to miss. Although Grimsby in November sounds a bit grim too.

Always hated this competition, even more so since this ridiculous idea of including fancy dan B-teams. Only been to one since we've been in this piss-poor division (Rotherham at Don Valley to tick the ground off) however the Grimsby away in November looks a winner to me. Got a mate who has dined out for years on "I was at Torquay away pre-season on a Friday night", Grimsby (or as the sign on the way in says "Great Grimsby") away in the tin pot cup on a cold wet Tuesday night in November when no bugger else has turned out has all the hallmarks of that type of match .... now what time is that last train out of Cleethorpes?

I commend Pompey for taking the stance that they are taking, but I can't help but think it's more effective to just not show up. I will certainly not be going to any of these crappy rebranded EFL Trophy games.

Best in mind Pompey are a supporter-owned club so by not going they're only hurting themselves. They haven't got an Uncle Kev to bail them out.

not allowed is it? Don't we have to play the majority of the team that played the match before, which in this case is Oxford Utd at home.
A bench full of U21s. Bring 3 on, assuming we're comfortably in front, as subs so we can use them against Leicester. If we can put a few in the starting line up all the better. Of course I wouldn't suggest we do anything to jeopardise our promotion push.
The FA might think we are taking the piss by doing this but so are they.

Get 30,000 in against walsall followed by 0 in against leicester. that sends a message. Also play u16s and take the fine.

Throwing things en mass onto the pitch is better.....

surely if premier teams can side step this competition , all clubs can
whatever happened to fairness
Arsenal man utd etc see it as too demeaning obviously
how the feck can playing Readind under 21 s beneiit anyone from the FL48 that used to play in it

I'd love to boycott these games but seeing as I never went to the jpt games anyway it's difficult,I know cw wants to win every game but I genuinely couldn't give two fcks about this comp

A dodgy tactic if you ask me. How many will buy a ticket, say they'll walk out, make an effort to get to the game then think 'Well, now I'm here...'? If one in five or six do that, it loses its effect somewhat. I must say, if I'd paid and made the effort, I'd probably think twice. Perhaps that says more about me than it does owt else!

Yeah like a bunch of Yorkshireman (and women) are gonna pay for somat then not use it

Have a word with yer selves
