.......only managed 3 goals in a game from 46 last season.
To be honest we were dull to say the least last season but amassed 90 odd points with 11 ,1-0 wins.
How come the absolute turn around in the way we now play?

1. Wilder clearly told them to defend 1 goal leads last season.

2. Changed to 2 up front with a proper centre forward in Bamford.

3. O'Hare & Cannon found their shooting boots.

4. We decided it might be a good idea to try and score from set pieces.

5. Seriki.

Plus Brooks is being allowed to take on the opposition full backs. Combined with Seriki, it is producing lots of dangerous crosses from behind the last man rather than the stock 45 degree hopeful punts

Attacking full backs in a 4-4-2 is a huge part of it. Last season we had no width when the wingers tucked in or went wandering. This season we seem to get in behind the oppo full backs again and again. Even if we’re not creating directly that way it gives their defenders something to worry about and leads to openings elsewhere.

I didn’t see Wilder rebuilding us as an attacking team. I don’t think the most passionate pro-Wilder fans did either. All I ask for is a team that gets me on my feet and makes me think we have something to play for and at the moment this group is giving me both.

I was 100% against Wilders return. However, be it by chance or a conscious decision to play entertaining, high intensity footy instead of grab a lead then collapse into our last 1/3 every game (including Wembley) leaves me content for now. Just hope he doesn’t revert to his previous ways.

Playing with more freedom and less pressure as a result of being nowhere near the top of the league

Good point, though I guess relegation pressure should be considered too?
It will be interesting to see what, if anything, changes should we find ourselves in with a chance of play-offs/promotion.

I don't think Wilder ever thought relegation was a possibility

But after our disastrous start any preciousness about our record/goals conceded went out of the window. It was a prime time to say 'fuck it' and just go for it. Although it did take a while to get motoring in the goalscoring department (cheers Wednesday)

It might change if we get into the top 6 but it shouldn't. I hope we carry on going for goals but hopefully with a strengthened defence

I'd take beating Wrexham 5-3 in the PO final ;)

I think that the strength of the squad is in attack and with nothing to lose Wilder went for it. As others have alluded to, the real test of Wilder will be if it starts to get serious for us, with regards to play off places. I hope not as I am enjoying watching this side, not as much as the over lapping centre backs, but a lot more than last years turgid performances

No doubt the stats on this exist, but it feels we are getting more crosses in rather than that frustrating recycling of the ball that CW has favoured in the past.

The sacking and return of Wilder seems to have invigorated him.

It feels like we have Wilder Mk 1 back. Yes we collapsed against Wrexham but we wouldn't even have scored 3 last year. We'd have shut up shop after going 1 nil up and then 2-1.

Credit where it is due, Wilder seems to have taken on board criticism of the teams' shortcomings (and the fact it was plainly obvious that it wasn't working).

You can see and feel the togetherness and synergy of this team. Players like Danny Ings and Ben Mee have been invaluable signings in terms of their impact on the team due to their experience. Yes Ings hasn't quite performed to the level we know he is capable, but I credit him partly with the upturn in Cannon's form.

I'm excited to be a blade again and who knows where the season will take us, especially with a sprinkling of quality signings in JTW.

We are shit in the PL , so fuck promotion and have a bloody good time in the Championship.
Which is what I'm having now , so long may it continue.

ps - I've stopped worrying about the end of parachutes cliff-edge and anything beyond this season.
How many goals can we score ?
That's my guiding light now.
