Here's something to chew on then a list of players who have gone to CCC clubs this year. Don't none of them like Sheffield ???

I'm well aware who has gone to championship clubs this season, what I actually asked is who in your opinion would fit the bill and how much would they cost?

Unless of course you think we should have signed them all?

Thought it was quality not quantity? ;)

Right then rather than pay £2m for eee haw Henderson i'd have gone for one of -
Iain Hume (Can) ST 24 Edinburgh 170 70 06/2011 2008 Leicester City (Eng) £1.2m
Marcus Bent (Eng) ST 30 Hammersmith 188 78 06/2011 2008 Charlton Athletic (Eng) £1m
Nathan Ellington (Eng) ST 27 Bradford 177 80 06/2009 2008 Watford (Eng) Loan
Sylvan Ebanks-Blake (Eng) ST 22 Cambridge - - 06/2012 2008 Plymouth Argyle (Eng) £1.5m being my No 1 target.

I think we are a bit thin in central defence my targets -
Jason Shackell (Eng) CD 24 Stevenage 193 83 06/2012 2008 Norwich City (Eng) Undisc.
Fitz Hall (Eng) CD 27 Walthamstow 193 82 06/2012 2008 Wigan Athletic (Eng) Undisc.
Martin Albrechtsen (Den) CD 28 - 188 79 06/2010 2008 West Bromwich Albion (Eng) Bosman

Mark Hudson (Eng) CD 26 Guildford 185 77 06/2011 2008 Crystal Palace (Eng) Bosman
For midfield i'd have been in for -

Lee Carsley (Ire) DM 34 Birmingham 175 76 06/2010 2008 Everton (Eng) Bosman
Chris Eagles (Eng) RW 22 Hemel Hempstead 183 67 06/2011 2008 Manchester United (Eng) Undisc.
Neil Danns (Eng) MF 25 Liverpool 181 71 06/2011 2008 Birmingham City (Eng) £600k
Paul Green (Eng) CM 25 Sheffield 175 77 06/2011 2008 Doncaster Rovers (Eng) Bosman
Kris Commons (Eng) LW 25 Nottinghamshire 167 60 06/2011 2008 Un-attached Free
David Norris (Eng) MF 27 Peterborough 170 73 06/2011 2008 Plymouth Argyle (Eng) Undisc.
Richard Chaplow (Eng) MF 23 Accrington 175 57 06/2011 2008 West Bromwich Albion (Eng) £800k
Akos Buzsaky (Hun) MF 26 - 180 74 06/2010 2008 Plymouth Argyle (Eng) Undisc.
Lee Cook (Eng) LW 26 Hammersmith 175 71 06/2009 2008 Fulham (Eng) Loan
John Eustace (Eng) CM 28 Solihull 177 75 06/2010 2008 Stoke City (Eng) £250k

So if I was lucky enough to get my No1 targets outlay would be around £3.5m just the same as we brought in last week. Kin easy this football management ;) ;) ;)

One player is available that we could go for Ben Watson.

Who repeatedly keeps stating he doesn't want to move north. Unless he can be convinced to do it on a temporary basis. Doesn't sound that way in the slightest though.

Think he was of the firm belief that his old mate Dowie was nailed on to sign him before the window shut.

Well he shouldnt be so bloody picky. :)

Right then, that's more like it actually giving players behind your reasoning!

Here's my take on the ones you mention.

Right then rather than pay £2m for eee haw Henderson i'd have gone for one of -
Iain Hume (Can) ST 24 Edinburgh 170 70 06/2011 2008 Leicester City (Eng) £1.2m

Iain Hume - Joined Barnsley, so this one does seem slightly more realistic than most plucked out of the air transfers. Interesting one, not really in the same mould as Henderson. Do think he can be handy on his day and he has 2 years on Hendo. Last season he scored 11 goals, compared to Hendo's 13, this season Hume has 2 in 5 in the league and Hendo 1 in 5. Hume been sent off, Hendo now injured. Strangely they both also have an identical career league goals to games ratio.
Very similar these two statistics/goals wise. The only thing i'd say is the Hendo more closely fits the bill in terms of the type of striker we'd be looking for in order to replace Hulse/fit in the injured Beattie's position. For me Hendo would just shade it for this reason coupled with the fact that from what i've seen Hendo is stronger and offers more in terms of all round play.

Marcus Bent - Benty Benty Benty.... could have been so talented looking at some of his early promise. Never seems to really stay anywhere for a proper length of time though. In terms of goal scoring, has a lower goals per game than Henderson and is 3 years older. Would he want to come back? would we pay as much in wages as Birmingham? I'm not so sure. For me he doesn't really fit the mould of the style of player we were lacking in the squad with Hulse on his way. Personally I think Hendo offers more to the squad than Bent would and has a better attitude. I also don't think Bent himself or the fans would have the patience in order for him to be successful.

Nathan Ellington - Has a better goals per games ratio than Henderson, but again offers a different style. The other draw back is, the majority of his career goals came from a few wonder seasons at Bristol Rovers and Wigan. Last season he scored 4 goals in total, in comparison with Hendo's 13. Has been a laughing stock to many in recent years, a shadow of his former self. Would have been more of a risk and brings less overall than Hendo in my opinion.

Sylvan Ebanks-Blake - This lad has been a revelation in the last couple of years. Has scored goals for fun. Again I'd say he's a different type of player but probably makes up for that in the number of goals against the odds he gets. Wouldn't have grumbled at all with us taking a punt on him after his recent goalscoring exploits. The only issue is, he was transfered a whole 6 months before we bought Hendo. At the time, we had Beatts scoring freely, Hulse coming back from injury and a very front heavy squad, did we need to invest in another striker?

Took longer than I thought that :D, onto the other positions tomorrow.

One thing I would say about most of that lot is they have bags of pace - something only Webber gives us up front. If we were more proactive than reactive we would have tried for Blake and then sold Shelton and Stead as it stands now we are down to bare bones up front Bt just back from injury plus the two little guys, why why why were we in such a rush to offload Stead ??? Hindsight is a great thing but surely a loan with a call back clause was good enough at this stage. Another huge mistake if another striker gets injured.

I'm still waiting. :D

Believe it or not I've been extremely busy! :)

I'll get round to it soon, I usually wait a lifetime to responses to my questions, so its only fair :D
