Quite possibly, I wouldn't blame him if he had. I'd imagine it'd be much more likely that he and his family are still wanting to be around for years to come.

I'm sure you realise all the in and outs of him actually not just being able to keep the property for himself. If the situation arose where some random outsider were to take over the club (although McCabe did originally say he wanted investment, not a buy out), I'd rather Kevin McCabe owned the property than the unknown quantity have the power to sell off the land/ground as they saw fit.

You are right Foxy, us fans obviously cannot come up with a list of players who have both the ability to make a difference and the desire to join Sheffield United otherwise some genuine suggestion would have been made.

The thing is that we don't get paid to come up with such a list; i dare say that if i could spend my working hours scouting for players both home and abroad i could come up with a list.

Blackie has admitted he had such a list but the players have either joined prem clubs or the price quoted was doubled when it became apparent that we were interested.

I keep mentioning that it has been a long time since we found some real talent from abroad and that woudl suggest to me that there is a problem with our scouting network overseas.

The Ozzie lad Carle looks a good player, Kightly came from the league of ireland along with Kevin Doyle and a few others of note. Sonko from Reading came from Brentford as did Marton Rowlands from QPR and also the keeper currently at Forrest.

There is talent which can be successful in the championship currently playing in the lower leagues both home and abroad but we seem to be once again focussing on player who can definately play in the premiership.

That's my entire point in one there. We as fans have absolutely no idea what goes off behind the scenes and who is available for what price etc etc.

Therefore unless we can think of a realistic option the club has overlooked (again, we don't even know that) then surely it's not so laughable to believe that there isn't someone suitable available?

This must surely improve also with our aquisition of clubs abroad. The other problem with bringing in someone from overseas is that making a mass generalisation they take time to fit in and start playing well consistantly, time many people shout that we haven't got.

I agree, but there are no guarentees in the slightest.

We ourselves have bought players from below with mixed results. The issue is, many want the star midfielder and have no patience.

All we can do is trust the man in charge and his team of staff who are far more qualified than ourselves.

The potential for a well run ambtious club in Sheffield is huge ! large catchment area with high population levels and good transport infrastructure but alas all going to waste.

McCabe's definitely the best united have had in many many a year. I'd rather have him and his family than a Foreign investor who didn't give a shit about the clubs history and tradition.
If we were to get big investment from abroad, i'd fear they would try to turn United into a soulless corporation which only cared about filling the stadium and making money, over football.

If the way United are now is a lack of ambition (oh sorry AMBITION ), then I like United just as they are.
