Agree, but having him and Davies is wasteful.

Wednesday were permitted, even under embargo, to get Lumley, Dieng and Cooper on loan.

We’d have more room in the budget and could get better.

So by all means get him, but allow Davies to move on in the process.

No point bothering with paying half a million or similar to Begovic then really IMHO.

Don’t get me wrong, I think AB is a better keeper; just not to be sat on his arse for half a million.

I do get what you are saying, I’m a keepers guy and Begovic even at his age is much better than Davies and a more than capable replacement if Coopers knees play up.

But yeah the finances of it are an issue

I think he can be more than just a benchwarmer. His experience will be useful for a keeper like Coops who is still young for a GK, and if he's got ambitions of getting into coaching he should be doing more than turning up to training and doing nothing more than a warmup on a Saturday.

Davies is our most experienced keeper, but he's 34 and has made only 230 appearances in that time...with just 22 in the last few years at United. Begovic has over 400 appearances, with the vast majority being in the PL or top European leagues. Plus 63 caps for B&H.

Goalkeepers operate as a group, since they're so different from the rest of the squad, and adding Begovic will raise and improve that group even if he doesn't play.
