How about the fact that Russians rarely play abroad due to the fat contracts they get in Russia.

CW ain’t in the foreign player market and has sort of admitted as much, claiming ignorance as the reason.

Now sooner or later I assume he will be, but at a big fat guess, for the time being, I think these player suggestions should focus around UK players, or UK based players that may have originated from overseas

This suggestion aside (tongue in cheek as I suspect it was), I don't get the tendency to buy a player on the back of a good international tournament at an inevitably vastly inflated price. The atmosphere, emotion, intensity, personal attachment related to the WC or Euros are completely different from club football, yet you can almost guarantee that some previous nonentity will have a few decent matches in Russia and find himself subject to a bid 10x his worth 4 weeks previously. It's like a farmer going on holiday and enjoying a convertible Audi TT hire car for a couple of weeks, and deciding therefore ditch his Land Rover in favour of one for his shit filled farm work down dirt ridden country lanes.

I thought the same but I would guess that there will be many more teams looking at him now with bigger resources! He's certainly a handful! I'd rather us sign someone with pace and creativity but you can't fault the option that a guy like that provides! He's like the incredible hulk!
