on paper , just on grass it was a mis match

thing is with Arsenal , if they click , god they look awesome
but have quite a few off days
I hope you are not suggesting Nade struck when they were having an off day ................

What really tickles me is that all their fans started supporting them circa 2003.

Now they don't compete for anything the glory hunters don't like it

Arsenal are really suffering
just 2 FA cup wins in the past 3 seasons , 2 prem runners up and cl qualification every season
no wonder they want to oust that loser

Wenger has always championed academy players coming through to become stars
remember their young talent ripping us apart 6-0 with outstanding skills

but , who needs entertainment

lets all just spend 100s of millions buying foreign players and do nothing different
£60+ just to watch a game at the Emirates, which was built 'so they could compete with the biggest clubs', £200m in the bank. A series of expensive signings who've flopped.

I think they might have a point.

That's not correct. They had a big waiting list for season tickets. North London's full of Gooners and Spurs and always has been.

Bit of a tenuous link really. Don't give a rats arse about Arsenal or Wenger, unless we were playing them on Sat.
Scunny anyone?

Really? Man. United and Man. City undoubtedly 'pay the wages' but are being left behind by the natural 'churn' in football. Arsenal have been on the slide for years. Liverpool no longer dine at the top table. My mate is a Spurs fan, but is spitting feathers about last nights loss. I haven't the heart to tell him it could get worse if Pochettino goes to the Gooners...

Despite all their riches, Man. City are way behind Bayern Munich, PSG, Real Madrid and Barca.
they have the resources to compete for every trophy they compete in .if Leicester can win the league so can they .
They have spent as much as Chelsea on transfer fees this season
He has a formula for doing enough to bring in the champions league money and make sure the club turns a profit
Winning trophies doesn't seem high on his list of prioritys neither is bringing on English talent

Could someone come in and do better ?
Who knows but if they can't even give Leicester a run for their money when they were their only real challengers this time last year then when will they ,?

Bonnie Rotten is great!

Is there a way that we haven't thought of that the footballing gods can Fuck us up the arse?

To be fair, Leicester only lost three games in the entire season. Two of those three were to Arsenal. And it's exactly that sort of thing that makes Arsenal fans moan. They can double the eventual champions, but still not properly compete for top spot.

Still, finishing second out of 92 feels like a nice problem to have. I'd settle for a guaranteed second place in Div III right about now...

Im really struggling to see how you came to that conclusion re: the OP?

Unless our last ten or so years of decline have passed you by whilst Wenger has been winning cups and playing in the Champions league!?!??

Not sure what cups you are referring to that Wenger has won in the past ten years.

My point is (and I apologise if I didn't make this clear) - Arsenal fans may ending up getting what they are wishing for and that is a replacement for Wenger. The top four place may disappear and they could end up worse off than their current standing.

As far as we are concerned. My point being we could do a lot worse than McCabe. Similar to Blackpool or Coventry.

Well that's just it isn't it ?
I remember in one of those games where they beat Leicester they played at a really high intensity but seemed more interested in getting opposed players sent off than scoring

Watched them at the weekend and hull were undone by a couple of moments of clattenberg being a wanker

They're idea of getting up for a game and showing heart is to dive around and con the ref

These three.

FA Cup Finals, 1872-today
Year Winners Runners-up
2015-16 Arsenal Aston Villa 4-0
2014-15 Arsenal Hull City 3-2 aet
2005-06 Arsenal Manchester United 0-0 5-4 on pens

..and things could get a lot better by actually winning the league/Champions League, we just can't say for certain, wouldn't you agree?

As far as we are concerned. My point being we could do a lot worse than McCabe. Similar to Blackpool or Coventry.

And similarly, we could do a lot worse than McCabe, true...but then on the other hand, we could do a hell of lot better, wouldn't you agree?

It's speculation.

Arsenal were a South London club for 20+ years in the same neighbourhood as Charlton.

But they relocated North of the river.
They are the original MK Dons.
Yes they were Woolwich Arsenal. It's not like they actually moved outside the city boundary. Only a shitarse club would do that.

Wenger's early successes at Arsenal came in spite of them having a smaller budget than three or four competitors. After the move to the Emirates they had to sell their best players in order to pay of the stadium debt. Wenger managed to keep them top four when they had no right to expect it, enabling them to pay the stadium debt off quicker. Now they have the stadium which makes the most money per game in the world. They are now only behind the benefactor clubs (Chelsea, Man City) and Man Utd in terms of financial muscle. In other words, Wenger sacrificed his own trophy winning aspirations to leave the club in long term financial health. Unluckily for him, financial fair play (FFP) has turned out to be a crock of shit, or Arsenal would have by far the second biggest budget in the league. Arsenal have over the last few years started investing in big names again, but they don't pay the wages of the top three. Maybe they need to change their model and get a benefactor? Whatever happens, his successor will benefit from his great business sense. You can understand Arsenal fans frustrations for two reasons: the stadium move hasn't completely bridged the financial gap between Chelsea, Man Utd, Man City. Oh, and the frankly absurd ticket prices they pay.

I hate to appear to be "mean" to fellow football supporters who we share a bond with ( not sure what it is but it sounded good ) but I find it REALLY hard to have ANY sympathy at all for poor old Arsenal fans, with the terrible and disturbing problems that they have had to overcome and put up with over the last 20 years or so !!! When I compare this with what we have endured over a similar period .......:eek:

So they haven't won the PL or the CL ....... wow !!

Maybe I'm easily pleased but I would quite happily settle for their record and position over the last 20 years, which includes playing entertaining football and would be quite happy if that continued for us for the next 20 years. o_O

Sorry gooners ....... the amount of fucks I couldn't give regarding your "woes" couldn't be calculated by 200 mathematicians in 50 years of toiling !!

I feel so sorry for Arsenal fans - it must be awful finishing in the Champions League every year.

Although I get it's relative - and Wenger seems stuck in his ways (signs same type of players like Ox, totally overrated Wallcott etc, doesnt sign leaders etc).

200m I heard this the other day
to be fair its peanuts, man city have still spent 400m , man utd some say 450 million
and they arent top either
so he could have spent that 200m and be only slightly better off

what does let them down is no hardmen
when you think they had Adams and Bould you had to get past was like trying to win a WWE wrestling match just to get in the box

Tonight looked painful for wenger. 10-2 on aggregate to bayern munich probably 4th/5th best team in europe. Embarrasing to visibly see the vast gulf in quality between the two sides. & also dangerous as the 5 bayern goals in the second half is now 2nd time the players have collapsed, ask serious questions about mental fragility with them players. I cant see how he can be there in august but if he is, they need to go out & buy a big 30 goal a season forward stop pratting around with giroud because i dont think its any coincidence that wengers most successful years we also the same years where Henry were banging in the goals

shame that wenger look like is going end on whimper he shouldve left when he last won fa cup. But hardest thing in sport is to quit on a high

Quite fed up of hearing them moan.

They are at the optimum of where they should be almost always but not overachieving more that he already has done seems to irk some of them.

As mentioned above Man City and Chelsea can spend what they want. Then you have Man U who are undispitedly the biggest club in England / UK. So what space does that leave for Arsenal? It's not as if in finishing top 4 they are always 4th either!

They missed a chance when Leicester caught everyone off guard but they are so consistent it's untrue. He's spent about 243m in 21 years which let's be fair, given Sky money and UCL money rounds up to fuck all. He'll probably knock 100m or more off that by offloading Sanchez and Ozil.

In fact prior to the big clamour to buck his ways and spend the money, he'd dolled out just 26.6m in fees in the 17 years from 1996 to 2013. Less than 1.6m per year!

Their average finishing position before Wenger was 9th. During his tenure the average finishing position is 2.75.

Talk about never had it so good.

In the Champions League they have not made the quarters for some time.

But look who they have been going out to in the past 7 years - Barcelona twice, Bayern thrice, Milan by the odd goal in 7 and Monaco on away goals.

What would do Arsenal and their fans the power of good would be a dose of Europa League like Man U have had to and having a season like Chelsea did last year.

Then they might realise that before Wenger a seat at Europe's top table was as an infrequent visitor, not a permanent fixture like they seem to think.

That's not true at all.

Just Reyes and Arshavin combined cost £31m.
