Aren't you doing well

Wotcha Blades fans. It's been a long while since I've visited your board but it's good to see that the quality of the stuff on here is still up there with the best, abuse and all. As a brief respite from the fun and frolics of life at Roots Hall I thought I would just pop in and say what a fabulous season you guys are having. Painful though it is for me to say this, I regularly check out your results and you are certainly cooking on gas at the moment and still with Mr Wilder leading the way. So, with the greetings done I wish you well and I'm off back to the joy of losing every game between now and the end of the season. How time change!

What a difference a year makes

Our forwards can't hit a cows arse with a banjo! To be fair, we didn't come out of embargo until January and a CF was top of our list, but when you have a reputation for not paying players and agents hate you it's an inevitable outcome that anyone any good wouldn't touch us with a barge pole.

Yes, we still have to play the sheep botherers, and it could go to that game, we shall see.
Blimey, nerve-wracking time for you, Roots.
Hope you stay up.

Because I'm feeling totally miserable today I'd just like to say that after 115 years of league football it's looking nailed on for us to drop into the National League at the end of this season. I know that you guys are looking in a precarious position in the Prem, but it seems like only yesterday that we were trading insults and football in FL1. Sad, sad times. I really hope you guys survive as I do have a soft spot for you Northern monkeys, and one high note, we'll have a spanking brand new three sided stadium that we will never own to play national league football in.

Have a good Easter break chaps.

Everything went to shit for us literally right after you started this thread. 😂

0-0 with Crawley this afternoon...leaves them marooned 2nd bottom still 4pts adrift of Colchester with just 5 games left

With Barrow winning last night we are pretty much doomed unless Scunthorpe implode very badly. Can't really complain because every time we have had the chance to help ourselves we have totally shanked it! Anyway, on the future of the Club, it's better news (I hope).Stanley Collymore is acting as our intermediary with Ron Martin and there are some promising talks lined up for next week on our future footballing and financial future. Not of great interest to you guys but if you think returning to the Championship is painful, try dropping out of the League completely. I am absolutely fucking gutted, as are many others and we worry that we will enter another Bury/Steve Dale scenario. I really hope not. Good luck next season chaps, and if we get to the 3rd round of the FA Cup then maybe we can give you Northern monkeys a good thwacking on your visit to the Hall., especially as we now have Nile Ranger on the books again (you couldn't make it up).

Onward and upwards all the SUFCs, with the exception of Scunthorpe who I hope crash and burn horribly in both their remaining games.

RHB x

That does put our current difficulties into context. Doesn’t seem long ago that Southend were in the Championship (although the same can be said for Grimsby who are joining you).

The conference is a strong league, as shown by the relatively few teams who struggle in League Two after promotion. There have been teams who have come back up fairly quickly like Bristol Rovers and Tranmere, hopefully you’ll follow their example rather than Stockport’s (although they’re finally on their way back).

Good luck to you Rootshallbloke , to the club, and to Rug Ron (still my favourite S24SU nemesis of recent times).

As Bath Blade says, lots of former Football Lg clubs have made it back over the short or longer term—to Bath’s list add Carlisle, Newport, Grimsby and, yes, Barrow. I’m sure there are several others I can’t recall right now.

You‘re 100% right, of course, that it throws own current agonies into stark relief. More power to the mighty Shrimpers. May they live long and prosper.

I think that's the best way to look at it, Rhb.
It's almost agonising that you still have a chance but the odds must be huge.
Then again, it's football & stranger things have happened.
A shame for you guys that Scunthorpe probably have an 'easier' 2 games to pick up a point from. Without the difference in gd, Colchester Utd might well have been sweating, although with Newport your last game, it was never going to be easy for you. They'll be busting a gut not to lose a play off place.

Rug Ron update

The obvious hostility between fans and Chairman reminds me of us in the not too distant past. But Chairman who claim to be hanging about because they 'love the club' smacks of the stubborn and desperate. It's clearly very testy down Southend way but you don't need to follow your lot to understand why. I've recently seen a few scousers who take issue with Klopp because he didn't deliver consecutive titles, the mind boggles at such a sense of entitlement, but I guess the heady heights of the Prem eventually leads to the type of mental issues that even the NHS would struggle with.

How do you feel about stan collymore wanting to get involved for free, should be a win win situation

Looks like I might be able to go and watch the Shrimpers play my local team (Hampton & Richmond) next season. How the mighty have fallen.
