Wotcha Blades fans. It's been a long while since I've visited your board but it's good to see that the quality of the stuff on here is still up there with the best, abuse and all. As a brief respite from the fun and frolics of life at Roots Hall I thought I would just pop in and say what a fabulous season you guys are having. Painful though it is for me to say this, I regularly check out your results and you are certainly cooking on gas at the moment and still with Mr Wilder leading the way. So, with the greetings done I wish you well and I'm off back to the joy of losing every game between now and the end of the season. How time change!

Very decent of you, given the shitty time you're having.

After all the long drawn out Lenny saga, its quite ironic he hardly played and we moved him on for a profit.

At times it still seems unreal and most of us are covered in self inflicted pinch marks.
Sadly a few of our fanbase are already getting Billy Bigbollocks and a sense of entitlement is creeping in. Sadlt that's part of the whole Premier league pull up the drawbridge thing.

Best of luck mate.

Agree with Coco.....it shows you have a big character when you return after such contrasting fortunes between our clubs.
It looks like your club is in real trouble both on and off the pitch. Is there a fear that you could do a Bury?

What is your opinion of Sol Campbell as a manager? Is he popular amongst your fanbase?
I find that he tends to come across as arrogant during his interviews...maybe it’s accidental and just his demeanor.

The business of the billybigbollocks thing is interesting. At a far lesser level we have had the self same thing. A lot of our younger fan base have only really been around since the Tango man era and therefore they have only really known relative success. Now when the metal meets the meat they're whinging and bailing out big time.

The jury is out on the Bury scenario. Chairman Ron has so much invested in the club's future financially that you would like to think that we will be safe but we have regular rematches with HMRC (we're unbeaten at the moment) and twice recently the players have not been paid. So Christ knows what's next.

Sol - Fair to say he is marmite to some. He has improved fitness and organisation 100%, but we have offloaded the senior freeloaders in the squad so now he only has mostly the U23s to play with. That said, some of those are hidden gems we are finding. He is a bit odd as an individual but maybe next season (if we have one) is the time to judge him for me.

It seems a long time since we lost 3-1 at your place. The away end is lower than the pitch! I liked Roots Hall, a traditional stadium. Are you still moving at some point?

A timely reminder of just how far we have come in a short space of time. Football is a fickle mistress at the best of times. Enjoy every moment of this crazy ride we are on Blades fans. And to you roots... I am sorry for the malaise you appear to be in atm....for what it's worth I had one of the best away days/weekend down at yours ever. Good luck for the rest of the season.

That was a good match wasn't it, but so was the one when you tonked us 2-4. So the new stadium, there is the fly in the oitment I'm afraid. We have probably the best shiny navy blue fences surrounding where the accademy will be and currently all they protect is scub land. Reason? there is a consortium looking to build a cinema and restaurants at the back of the sea front and it has been alledged that some council officials may benefit big time from the development, only rumour, mind you. Because of this, and because Chairman Ron is a bit dodgy to say the least, our planning apps keep getting pushed further and further into the future. The new ground HAS to happpen for us to have a long term future. Roots Hall is a poor old lady at the moment by the way, not clever when it rains at all.

Cheers Rootshallbloke

We had some eventful fixtures against your lads in recent years and you were one of the toughest teams we faced during our time in league 1 [our head to head results in that period certainly back this up]. I still remember Wilder saying that the victory at your place was the point when our players started to genuinely believe that they would get promoted. It was certainly a 'statement' performance and result, against a team that we had struggled against until that point.

Roots Hall was great day out too, and your fanbase were never anything less than welcoming on the times I came down. A former boss of mine [who was an absolute gent to work for] was also a huge shrimper, so it's very sad for me to see how things are going for you all now. It's bad enough when things are going downhill on the pitch, but add all the financial shenanigans to it as well, and it looks very grim. I hope things sort themselves out.

I hope it does happen. Sick of hearing about 'poor old Liverpool and Man City with their fixture problems, let's have a winter break for their benefit'. Let's make sure the smaller clubs are OK so there isn't another Bury! I hope you stick with Sol Campbell, he did a decent job at Macclesfield. Up the SUFC!

You fans are what makes football tick. Support a team that is probably never going to do anything ( I've had similar thoughts about the Blades ;)). How many local fans do you see arahnd Sarfend with their Arsenal, Man U, Chelsea scarves on? Don't you want to kick them in the nuts? Love watching the smaller clubs on TV and how the fans go berserk when they win or score. Real supporters not the plastics who go watch the big clubs and always have an excuse for doing so. Good luck to The Shrimpers.

I'd genuinely forgotten Ryan Leonard existed.

Remember the good old classic fly-of-the-handle reaction from a few of the more reactionary forum members when it turned out the loaned Leonard could play against us?

Your friend, Pinchy, hasnt posted on here for over two months. You should be safe from Rug Ron jibes! :)

The minute I saw mention of Ron I hoped this might provoke a nostalgic Rug Ron Pinchy post.

Was a great away day, my only visit to Roots Hall. Caolan Lavery’s best performance in a United shirt – superb that game, and the football for the second half goals in particular was excellent.

I have to say if our positions were reversed, I couldnt bear to come on your forum, so credit it to you and good luck.
Believe it or not, I've always enjoyed my time on here with you guys, and at the moment coming on here is actually quite therapeutic as I mod on our site and some of ours are total fuckwits presently (and you don't have swear filter like us so I can post 'fuckwit' without it becoming a row of asterisks!;))

Dont know, he is either banned or has quit the forum.

I did at one time swap a few private messages with pinchy. I was aware that his father was very ill and pinchy was going the the Hallamshire - 10th floor quite regular at that period. I very much doubt pinchys forum character would allow himself to leave the forum - probably as thick skinned as anyone.

Perhaps it's family related.

Some of us do leave - then .......................return. :)

Sorry to hear.

Nice of you to say Roots I like Southend and sad to see them struggling always seem to me to be a well run tight knit club, but sadly things seem to be falling apart. I used to love going to Sarfend in late 60's go on the pier that never seems to end it was great, I also recall their donuts lovely. I lived in Tottenham at the time (not my choice) but soon came back to Sheffield.

Rootshallbloke what's your view on the Sol appointment mate?

Thought he did well to keep Macc up with everything going off but I've not been overly keen on his entitled views at times.

It’s got to be hard work supporting Southend. It’s big enough really to sustain a club that alternates between L1 and the championship but you need a sustained period of success to prevent locals being drawn to the London clubs. It seems to be a difficult club to manage. I hope you stick with Campbell, his work at Macclesfield indicates he’s got some potential and he’s a cold, ruthless winner. He understands what it takes. If he can get the right characters into the club, players with something to prove, he might do all right in the long term.

If you wanna read real fuckwits try Owlstalk. Then you'll understand why we are in awe of them.😂
