Over the longest period ?
The trophy room would say yes.....and i agree.

Have we ever gone into administration?

Have we ever gone bust and needed to start again?

Have the PFA ever needed to pick up our wage bill?

That all suggest, no! Maybe you need to revert to your usual question BB, and ask about ambition. ;)

No.

Despite some thoughts we're actually quite well run.

Do we piss money away and gamble the clubs future? No

Do we take risks? No

Perhaps thats the answer.....stand still and yer going backwards.!

Perhaps. But then doesn't that suggest that we're well run in many ways. We live within our means.

And lets face it, we didn't exactly push the boat out to buy promotion, we didn't exactly push the boat out in 2003 to get to 2 cup semis and a play off final.

Perhaps the years since relegation have clouded the fact that you don't have to spend big to do well in this division.

We need stability for the next 2-5 years.

What if we took a risk and it backfired and we went bust?

I don't see how slow but steady progress is the same as "standing still", personally.

We are not the worst run club - but I'm struggling to think of any other clubs of our size (income, fan base etc) that have shown so little ambition in recent years.

Really? I think much of our current grief is down to the post-relegation gamble we made on Robbo and his legion of highly paid duffers.

If we'd have been more thrifty then we wouldn't feel so impoverished now. I was genuinely staggered when we signed James Beattie - it seemed shit-or-bust at the time - and in the event he probably staved off relegation!

Can't be many clubs £50m in debt only three years after a season in the Prem, two years of parachute payments and a £20m bonus on top.

If you measure ambition by level of debt (and there is a practical correlation), then we're reaching for the stars.

I do wish you'd wind your neck in sometimes and stop this insidious chipping away at the club. The answer is plainly "No". We are not the worst run club, and not over any period nor any measure. I wonder sometimes if you are a stealth-pig.

i wouldnt say were the worst run club id just say were the most under acheiving club of our size, fan base. i do think we need too take a small risk here and there tho because in my opinion were not going anywhere. yes the doubters will say "well what if it back fires" well what if it dont ? you dont know till you try do you

Have you added assets into that debt? I would suggest if you add all our assets together and then remove the debt that would be a fair look at our current status.
Then to meet your question you would have to look at Charlton and Watford and decide who is in a better position.

I think that debt is somewhat cheeky, KM decided to do these share options, he must have known he was going to finish up underwriting them, ultimately owning the club, why is it the clubs debt? Surely it is his debt, or his companies. I guess I'm being naive.

Here we go again. Why does the overall level of debt matter? How do you know what our total outstanding debt is? We are not even the worst run club in the city.

The debt is all manageable though isn't it?

Yes, we've managed to create it very easily.
I always think it's funny when fans see the level of debt, see how much money has come into the club, see what a shyte team we now have and still want to trot out a line like 'it's all manageable though isn't it."

It doesn't matter - in fact I'd go as far as to say most fans neither care or believe much about the finances of the club anymore, in line with pretty much else.

So fuck off back to watching your local club Leyton Orient and save us al the hassle of having to trawl through your boring posts

Lenners,

I have debt, quite large amounts, they're called Mortgages, I have them on two properties I own. It works out quite well. It means that over a long period of time I can pay off little chunks of cash to eventually pay off the full value.

Its linked to my earnings as well which means I didn't borrow what I can't afford to pay back. By doing this it means that I didn't need the cash for the buildings in one go and I'm able to have cash in my back pocket for buying stuff like fast cars, hookers and booze
