History would suggest we will not spend a penny of it, the same old excuses will be trotted out "well we tried for xxxxxxxx but the club was unwilling to sell until they had a replacement" ............... "we were waiting for other clubs to do business but" .................... "fax machine" yadda yadda yadda................. "the loan window opens in another week we can still bring some in" ................ " FFP wages" I think the new phrase is something about cutting cloth blah blah.
The board will be hoping the fury of fans after the Gillingham no show and the sale of our player of the year once again one game into the season will have been largely forgotten after 3 league wins on the bounce even if the opposition was by and large piss poor, it is after all The Blades Way. Jim Phipps might be mister nice guy on Facebook & Twitter but we have yet to see a real change in philosophy at SUFC since he and the Prince came onboard what has changed we still sell our best player at the start of every season whether they are contracted or not, I'm not sure how Jim can claim the sale of Harry had nothing to do with them. Well with only a week to go the clock is ticking down so we shall see.......................... will it be another load of hot air and try to do it on the cheap or will the board surprise 90% of the fanbase and actually re-invest in better players ?

The one thing the board has done by hiring Adkins is effectively 'hang' themselves if we don't do it this time and it is seen that they don't back Adkins.

We need it. desperately. You don't lose your best player and not replace him and get promoted.
We've played 1 really poor side, 1 that couldn't finish and a poor Peterborough side.
That doesn't bother me, it's the points that matter.

Against the better sides we need more. It'd be naive and very silly to think otherwise. We haven't had a test yet since Gillingham.

Deff a CB - either loan or permanent

The more I think about it we need a MD to protect again bat injury to Basham.

Don't talk bollocks he was player of the year as was Harry the season before as was McDonald the season before all were sold one game into the season and not replaced. Anyone looking with eyes wide open will see a pattern developing here rubbish Murphy all you want he was our best player (no one is saying best EVER). He wasn't saying that he was saying we should replace our best player that we have sold - as he alludes to JCR isn't fit enough to do it all season. It's not about 'hated players' it's about doing what we have failed to do in the last few seasons thats re-invest the money for our player of the year into someone of similar or better.

Unlike you I would sell any of them but only after we had got somebody in who was better, this thinking by you and the club is what holds us back and is a major factor in our being five years in league one. We will never progress by selling our best players and making do with inferior replacements, loans and in most cases no replacements.
