Are we dark horses this season

I'm happy now, as I said earlier in this thread.

Still doesn't change the fact we bottled the 2024-25 season.
Spineless and gutless is extremely harsh and I think you know this but won't save face now so dig in regardless so I shan't try and make you change your mind I just think it's absolutely ott 👍

When you look at the strength in depth we have when everyone is fit, we have a lot of pros who have played at a really high standard and some of the best youngsters in the league.
We are becoming a resilient team to beat.
We have the best keeper in the league.
A striker with highest conversion rate per shot.
We are flying under the radar of other clubs and could be underestimated which could work in our favour.
It reminds me abit of when we come up from league 1 and everyone was "having a off day" when playing us
I think our results looking at it have been good although performances haven't always been excellent
Its time some of you lot got down to the lane and start getting behind the team and being positive instead of acting entitled and praying on Wilder and team to fail
We win this weekend and we are in amongst it perfectly for some big games on the run up to christmas

So far we have learnt that their are teams much more shyte than us, after our next two games we have WHU WBA QPR SOUTHAMPTON BORO MILLWALL AND BURNLEY - I would have waited if I was you

So I'll ask you again.

What words would you use to describe an automatic promotion chasing team losing three consecutive league games in April against teams who were 19th, 9th and 24th?

Based on our performances against Derby and a truly woeful PNE, it's hard to see how we maintain our current position even if we pick up a decent return from Charlton and Watford.

The Wrexham performance was more promising but not sufficient enough to make me believe we can challenge the better teams.

Far more improvement and consistency required which is unlikely with the overall fitness and conditioning of the squad in general.

A top 8 finish would be a tremendous achievement even though I think we could and can get more from the squad than we have, at least in terms of more ambition in some games and better game management, substitutions etc.

Could have won all 3 and it not had any difference still would have come 3rd

To call a side that gets 90+ points spineless and gutless over 3 games as you claim is hilarious thanks for the giggle but I must move on now

Well, you've jinxed us now!

I now expect Phillips to get injured again, we'll sell Peck and Cooper in Jan, and we'll receive the points deduction that sucks us back into a relegation scrap.

'Tis the Blades way

This is why i consider us a dark horse, because the weight of expectation isn't as much for us this season, there is plenty of wild results, every weekend there's an upset and i think we've had a lot of luck against us at start of season i.e. injuries players leaving and refereeing decisions, i'm optimistic anyway the tide turns i think the top 8 will be
Wolves
Boro
Southampton
Blades
west ham
Bham
Swansea
QPR

in that order

A lot depends on injuries and some of the ins and outs in Jan.

We saw on Tuesday night how crap we were defensively when McGuinness came in and got bullied for the second Preston goal when a side better than us goes and does them 4 or 5-1.

Decent CB cover and a striker whose legs and brain function at the same time and who knows but until we can rock up to Molineux or West Ham and grind a victory out, then I'll hang fire, we just need to take it as it comes.

If Hull can fluke their way up then you never know.

We are a funny team this season. Capable of very decent spells, but also capable of falling to pieces. And both seem to be the case, regardless of the quality of opposition.

Nevertheless, with our best players fully fit, we are solid top half, pushing for top 8. Add another Donovan type player into the squad, and we could do some real damage.

NO

This is just a list of excuses and biased nonsense.

What ifs are great but they're not reality.

Wolves scored a late goal, so what?

We scored an even later winning goal against Bolton so does that not count as well?

I've never been impressed with trying to rewrite games of football on what should have happened in this alternate fantasy reality.

The table never lies.
If the table never lies that means we've been the 9th best team so far this season...despite being dreadful for the 1st few games....so how about you cheer up a bit, take a positive pill for a change and start supporting the team a bit...or will you be praying for a home win at Charlton on Saturday so you can come back on here saturday evening a spout a load more negative drivel?

Form table,last 6 games

We played 10th, 15th, 16th, 19th, 23rd and 24th in that spell, 10th overachieving by miles and being the team to beat us. That spell also included playing 4 of the bottom 5 in the image you list. And we play the fifth of those on Saturday. For the love of god, please don't tell me you posted this with the idea that it somehow indicates we're a good team?

Cheer up, why?

I'm fairly happy with how we're doing as I've already said twice in this thread.

Maybe you should have a read through before jumping in, eh?

We've currently flat track bullies. Usually picking off the worst teams and losing to the better ones. I'm more inclined to think there will be talk on here about getting sucked into a relegation battle by next year rather than promotion. The most realistic outcome is pure mid table nothingness though.
You get the same amount of points whovever you beat.
The already promoted Boro would have got 3 points last night if they'd beaten the hopeless Wrexham.

If we get lucky with injuries we might get the playoffs, not sure if that qualifies as dark horses

But we haven't shown we're capable of beating the better teams which is what we'll need to do fairy consistently to be in the top 8

As dark as Black Beauty down a mineshaft at midnight on a moonless night.

More chance of shitting gold.

We’ve not beaten anyone good yet. We don’t look capable of doing so either.

Think we’ll take 4/6 points out of the next two and then struggle through December until we play Derby. That’s a tough run.

Any injuries to Donovan, Phillips, Kitching or Cooper and we could find ourselves right down in lower mid table.
