Although its VERY early in the season, and we don't know how we'd do if he was still here, its something I have wondered.

Last season he was injured for a little while over Christmas and we coped alright. Obviously he's a terrific player, and I wish he was still here. With that said, I do feel that we relied on him too much for his bits of magic to bail us out, perhaps his absence has forced others to up their game? Similarly, the fact that he's not here has enabled Ndiaye to shine?

In any event we have missed him far less SO FAR than I thought we would.

The first minutes in Hull game I was thinking "MGW, is that you?" when Ndiyae had similar movements on the right wing, but these guys played well together.
He was big character on the pitch, gave his best for us and sparked players around him.

Football is team sport and we have 11 men on the pitch playing for the team, but would I take MGW back? -Yes I would and he would walk in to starting XI.
Can we do without him? -Yes and we have to even if we couldn't.
Are we better without him? -No, but we have managed to find players good enough to do the needed things, but we could do better.

With the way his Forest career has started there is every chance we could have the ability to sign him on loan again when Forest inevitably sign 25 new players for the 2nd half of the season.

Signing for Forest will give us a chance to see how well MGW plays at the top level. Of course, if Forest fail to impress then Morgan's value plummets and what we'll see is a player that we all love being less than the quality item we had all hoped to watch. There again, his quality could still be obvious even in a struggling side, so I guess we'll have to be patient and wait until the season ends before understanding the extent, or lack of it, of his talent.

For me the problem we'd have if MGW was in the side, is that it would inevitably mean that Sander would in theory have to play a deeper role and clearly he's more effective pushed further forward.

With Doyle playing the 'terrier' role, we look nice and balanced at the moment.

Good players always make you better, and we'd be even better with him

Hope Forest go down, our first two signings should be MGW and Hendo if they go down and we go up

Agreed.

Nah, we’re better because we’ve finally got a left hand side of defence which we’ve been lacking since JOC went down, we’ve added another quality player in Anel, we’re finally starting to see the McB we all expected when he signed, we’ve got quality cover in each position, and we’ve got a team full of confidence who are enjoying playing for the club.
If we added MGW to the mix, it would be yet another high quality option that would further improve the squad.

I'm gonna say yes. I loved him last season which was made up of his razzmatazz (although he often showboated unnecessarily), set piece ability, goals and engagement with the fans.

So far we appear to have replicated this with Ndiaye's start, Doyle and Norwoods delivery and our new fan favourite Anel. If goals dry up maybe we'll scream out for a MGW but with "new look" Oli Mcburnie maybe we'll be ok.

I think MGW had a very positive influence on Ndiaye. Quite a few posts pre season about the ‘MGW replacement’.

Ndiaye is here already and he is ours. Still waiting for Khadra to push on a bit.

We're a better team now and are scoring more goals per game than we did with MGW, and will continue to do so

Khadra and McAtee have barely been factored in yet either. They're another part of the picture that makes us much stronger overall than at any time when MGW was here

Yes he'd walk into the team now and improve us further, but we aren't missing him

Are we better or worse without a £40m Premier League player, let me think....haha!

Like someone previously said, good players always make you better. We'd have him back in a heart beat.

No, having him would make us better & he would go straight into our starting 11, he was incredible for this league & a one-year luxury. However, we look a better, more organised & fitter team than last year so that's made up for MGW's absence.

He might not improve the current first 11 but he would improve our squad, not missing him at all currently. I don't understand why he would choose Forest over his club Wolves as a career move, I didn't have him down as a greedy get. Time for some of our fans to let it go and move on he isn't our player fuck him.

On current form, we look better than last season, and who would you drop from the current first choice front-ish five? Dropping Berge back reduces the impact of our best player, and while occasionally effective, a Berge/MGW/Ndiaye front three always looked stop-gap at best and muddled at worst.

Not to say we’re better without him, and of course I’d have him back. But if we signed him tomorrow, he’d be warming the bench until we started to drop points and/or dip in form.

I think the fact that we're top of the league is testament to the fact that we're certainly managing fine without him. Sometimes we looked towards him too much while other players were passengers waiting for him to do something.

Now, we've seen Ndiaye make a step up, Berge is finally producing what we knew he was capable of, even McBurnie is banging the goals in with plenty of other decent options in the team all capable of making an impact right from AA at the back, Doyle, Norwood is looking better than he has for years with McAtee and Khadra waiting in the wings.

We seem to now have a more balanced team but rather than a rigid system getting the best out of the players, we now have a bit of proper footballing talent in the team which we've lacked for a very long time.

bit harsh on Foderingham hes doing an amazing job
if we go up automatically we should NOT do a Forest , and give most of those who achieve it the chance that Wilders team got and fiinished 9th

good side have good balance , flair players hard men defensive minded and attack minded
we look to have the scales well balanced
Weve had loan players shine before but we dont get to keep them
we must build on the majority we own

We dont seem to be fairing any worse without MGW.

The early table and results say we are doing better, but its still very early in the season.
