Been having a read of some comments on the HYS section on a BBC article about us (I know, amazingly the BBC have noticed our existence!) and a few cheeky Wolves fans are claiming we 'copied' the overlapping CB tactic from Nuno Espirito Santo and his Wolves team!

To my knowledge Wilder was here near on a year prior to Santos at Wolves, unless someone cares to correct me?

Really makes me laugh how many salty fans there are over the fact we are 6th with a team a fraction of theirs' price. I have nowt against Wolves and thought they had a fine season last year and so far this, as well as playing some great football - but still with a vastly superior budget to our own. Veered slightly off topic but people just can't seem to accept that an English bloke from Yorkshire is behind one of the most inventive and original ways of playing football since Pep. (I personally rate Wilder's more highly because he doesn't need multi million pound starts to do it).

Completely wrong. If you listen to Coady when he worked for Sky in our game vs Arsenal he specifically says he couldn’t imagine being trained to play like this. They play the same formation that’s as far as it goes.

Are we definitely talking about the Pulis Stoke, or the Stoke that had Shaqiri, Arnautovic and Bojan.

Or maybe the one that had Shilton, Greenhoff, Hudson and Hurst.

Having seen nearly every Wolves game under Nuno and about 25% of Blades games in the last year (live or stream), the only similarity between the two clubs is crisp passing, quality football and a two pronged assault on breaking up the Big 6 or whatever it is supposed to be.
Nuno and Wilder are the two best managers in the division and neither of them moan about refs and stuff. And Wolves have never had an overlapping centre back in any game, so that’s all Wilder. Great to see you up there, but do hope you finish one place below us (of course).

the only similarity between the two clubs is crisp passing, quality football and a two pronged assault on breaking up the Big 6 or whatever it is supposed to be.

Agree we played some crisp quick passing football before Xmas. The beauty of our football was we mixed up our style, so even in the same match we’d play some patient possession football then throw in a few long balls from Norwood.

However since the New Year we played Liverpool and Man City away...we didn’t see much of the ball....defended deep with counter attacks using the long ball
and to be honest we’ve carried on that style since. David McGoldrick has been out injured and he has a massive effect on our style of play.

In Summary
1st half we always matched or outplayed the opposition looking a really good team....think clubs underestimated us.
It became an in-joke where opposition fans would comment that they played their worse game of the season against us.

2nd half of the season...we‘ve looked more basic football wise but able to rely on our organised defence and battling qualities.
We hoping we start to see more possesion and get our attractive passing game back but it seems we need McGoldrick back for that....he should be back next match.

Unfortunately not, but assuming that Man City smash Villa at Wembley and one of the top teams win the FA Cup, then top 7 would bring a European tour for both of us.

Blades certainly played well at Molineux. Your front line pressed us better than any team this season and Egan was everywhere in the centre of the park that day. Rather like Wolves have shown in the Premier, having a settled team and a defined style of player where everyone knows their role, is much better than a team of fancy dan stars.
Regardless of any recent change in tactics, you’re still one of the best teams to watch as a neutral, hence the plaudits you have picked up all season from anyone who knows anything about football.

I think they were talking about the Pulis side early Mark Hughes side

We started it on 3 September 2016. I think. Gillingham away.

But maybe it doesn't count because it was in League One?

That was the first game we played 3-5-2, but I thought the overlapping thing came a little later after we were struggling to break teams down
