'The apocalyptic visions of destruction brought by the Japanese earthquake and subsequent tsunami have been largely replaced in the media this week by reports*' that Danny Wilson has been appointed the manager of Sheffield United.

Seriously there are much much more important things in this world than the fact that an average manager has been appointed by an average club. The sheer scale of outrage on all sites and outside the ground today is beyond me. I have followed the Blades since 1970 and I can't get worked up by this appointment. Granted, it doesn't excite me either but ffs what is going on here. It's mass hysteria. So we got relegated. I was massively pissed off, but by the time I got off the train after the game I was looking forward to next season. So he played for Wednesday. He managed them too. His win rate is around 45%. What were people expecting?

'I sending my season ticket back. I'm spitting out my dummy. I'll never go to BDTBL again.'

Whatever.

I go a bit further back than you, but that's exactly the way I feel and I'd certainly want the bloke to be given a chance to surprise us.

He has won more than he lost at Bristol City (getting on for a 2 to 1 win/loss ratio there), Swindon, Hartlepool and Barnsley. He lost 7 more games than he won at Milton Keynes Dons. The only club where he lost a lot more matches more than he won was Wednesday. Rather than being hated, I would have thought that would make him very popular!!

If you're on the Kop, I'll get you a pint first game next season for being a realist.
