This is the Sheffield United way, I'm sure we all knew last week was a prelude to this result. Normal service resumed. Not unhappy that Paynter joined us this week but was expecting a few more signings prior to the Notts game, seems to be every transfer window other teams get busy and bring in a few, we resort to type with the odd uninspiring signing (mostly loans). Despite the good showing at Villa this team have shown that we are not good enough, believe me league two looms ever closer.

I still cannot contemplate relegation, but this is surely a wake up call for us all.
I expected
several players in before this based upon Clough's interviews on RS.

Not surprised at all at today's result which just goes to re-enforce the fact that this squad of players are just not up to the job. What I am surprised at is Nigel Clough, why change the team from last week, why does Cloughy think we can get by with a few loans ? We are playing a very dangerous game hoping that a few loan signings can keep us in League One, we all know from past disasters that these players if they do well can be recalled.
We need some permanent signings and we need them NOW.

Easy to be wise after the event but I did say to my mate yesterday watch us lose tomorrow, and he sagely agreed. It's the Blades way

A genuine worry that they will only perform well in the cup, and be their usual selves, at best unpredictable, at worst useless, in the league. Leaves us precariously placed as I doubt that many of the team are real professionals in manner, let alone being devoid of quality other than the occasional FA cup showboat performance. League form is a priority, the squad is not good enough to maintain a string of good displays in two competitions. Much as it pains me the team are garbage, in that they are inconsistent and of poor quality. That said I feel Norwich or Fulham will murder us to be frank.

Well they will have been all "billy big bollocks" after last weeks 2-1 win at Villa, thinking they could just turn up to roll Notts County over.

Well think again you useless gets.

Not really. Relegation is a definite possibility unless we spend some fecking money.
I get really annoyed at all the complacency from fans going on about play offs is an outside chance, relegation can't happen and next season we'll piss the league. Right here, right now, we've seen no money and haven't bought anybody and are a bottom 6 team with bottom 6 players in a real scrap to stay up with a squad of players who have no real fighting qualities between the lot of em.

And for all those still doubting relegation is a possibility, look at the table. If Bristol City get 1 point from their game in hand, we are 1 point off 2nd bottom. GIVE CLOUGH CASH!

Couldn't agree more. I hope the last two league results put playoff talk to bed actually because it was a big enough ask with a team good enough to do it, which we don't have. We are still very much in a relegation battle and given our last two performances in the league we cannot afford to be complacent because we are definitely not too good to get dragged back into that bottom four. If we were we would have beaten Notts County today.

I certainly don't agree with just signing loan players in this window. It's a very risky strategy and limits what you can bring in (Paynter aside which I think is a good addition). Clough needs a few bob just to bring in 2 or 3 decent League One players that are committing their futures to the club beyond the end of the season. Paynter's situation is a little different to most loanees with him being out of contract at the end of the season so he's playing for a long term deal, which can only be a good thing for us.

If this investment really is game changing then show us! No one is asking for multi-millions. Maybe a million tops would be enough!
