At least we’re hoping that the academy lads can defend. As long as Mark Hudson doesn’t get it that is.

I saw this on LinkedIn yesterday and just thought we're opening ourselves up to ridicule. Why post this on LinkedIn? I get it's a networking platform etc, but how many defensive coaches with the experience/qualifications we need are scouring job boards and the like for their next gig?

What do you suggest instead? Should be just sit around waiting and assume someone with the necessary qualifications just happened to appear at the training ground?

Yes like buses. You wait for one defensive coach and three turn up at once.

I would have thought that defensive coaches with the necessary experience and pedigree are fairly low in number and probably well known within football circles. So put some feelers out amongst the footballing fraternity, or go and poach a decent one already in a job. Or hire a very specific headhunter. All more feasible options than posting something on LinkedIn!

Good plan, we'll get someone to just ask around the 1000s of coaches working in academies to see if anyone is looking for a new job. If not they can start asking around the other few 1000 coaches working in not league who've recently got their coaching badges and looking for the new step...

That's a much better use of the recruitment teams time than posting a job advert 🤨

You think we'll be interested in the 1000s of coaches who have just got their coaching badges? Could explain recent defensive performances🤦‍♂️

Where did we recruit the rest of our coaches from? Keith Andrews? LinkedIn was it? Or Indeed perhaps? What about Alan Knill? Recruitment agency? That Jonathan Morgan for the ladies team, was it Addeco or was he already working in a prominent role at Leicester?

I’m sure they are trying that too. There’s more than one way to skin a cat. Stop moaning FFS. Constant criticism from you!

Constant criticism 😄 You can't have read many of my posts. Aren't you the poster who couldn't understand some basic economic principles last week? Thought footballers should be paid a lot less and owners give the rest of the money to charity? As a serious suggestion 🤣

Also, aren’t you considered to be a pig on here?

That’s not what I said was it! Not my fault if you’re too thick to understand. In terms of basic economic principles then go read a book on socialism and stop voting Tory!

So you think we recruit first team coaching staff in the same way we recruit someone to coach 13 year olds in the academy? Okay then 🤨

Some of those people who have just received their coaching badges will be recently retired professional defenders, who have decided to move into coaching and are looking for their first role in an academy set up.

To be honest I’m connected with Kevin Campbell, last time I checked, so thought about tagging him in.

I'm pretty sure you mentioned football club owners giving money to charities instead of paying players the wages they receive. We don't live in a socialist state, and therefore the idea that any socialist principles should be applied to football clubs is cretinous. Simpleton.

I'll concede that recruiting coaches for the academy requires a different approach, I still think posting something on LinkedIn with a strap line of 'Sheffield United seeks defensive coach' opens us up to ridicule given the season we're having. Maybe LinkedIn is the place recently retired defenders who have just got their badges might go to look for positions, could happen I suppose, although more likely they'd try and use the networks they've developed whilst playing.

Coach defender.
H'mmm, perhaps it's to stop blades peeing on the seats on the way home from away matches...
Just a thought

Ourbest defender in recent years was JOC. Never dived in, stayed on his feet and tackled properly. He was rarely booked or injured. Hard to believe he had just one real injury and it ended his career and that was done in training. Hw would ahhave ben an England regular. His loss also ended Stevens and Fleck's top form too.

Jags is out of work isn't he................ just saying like..........😉😉
