Take it your not old enough that could have been his grandadFuck, Brooks is older than I thought.
Fred Furniss had a penalty turned onto the post. Think it was some time around the half time mark not at the end.Brian the Blade sometimes mentions it when he rings up the Radio Sheffield phone-in.
He says he was a young lad and went to the match.
He also says United missed a last minute penalty to make it 8-3.

Good article from the Star includes a photo of the penalty save.
Yes the “massacre” label used a long time before the Pigs did.Drawing 63 a piece at that stage the cartoon says, we’ve lept ahead since then.
And describes it as a “massacre”
Think we should copywrite that as that makes it 2-1 on that score as well.

I know people who looked after Alf as he suffered from Alzheimers disease. Died there in a Norton nursing home at age73 in 2000.One of my happiest days.
Alf Ringstead rarely gets mentioned on here, but what a cracking little player he was. Good at going past defenders, great crosser of a ball and prolific goal scorer for a winger.
Just the sort of player us and many more would give their right arm for now.
ThaT is Harold Brook.Fuck, Brooks is older than I thought.

He lived on Prospect Road in Bradway and had twin daughters as far as I can remember. Perhaps it was a different one each time to keep you guessing. When I was a young lad and caddied at Dore and Totley GC, Harold Brooks played there. He used to bring his daughter along now and again. As a 14 yr old lad, I fancied her like crazy. Unfortunately, she never noticed me. Fifty odd years later I still feel the pain of living on the wrong side of the track.
ThaT is Harold Brook.
WeWhad a sitsituat similar to Billy 'Sharpe', Bramhall Lane, etc.
Even our very own WHF put an S on Foulke, to show more in celebration of Manchester United' s Bill Foulkes than our legendary goalkeeper .[/QUOT

Even William Henry Foulkes had more in common with a Man United player than with William Foulke. No S in Foulke.
Saw him play golf in the 1990s at the Hallowes in DronfieldI know people who looked after Alf as he suffered from Alzheimers disease. Died there in a Norton nursing home at age73 in 2000.
Looks like Don Revie scored for Hull that day as well and Matthews for Blackpool
Loved to have been at that game2G Blade was there and remembered it very well (as you would!)
It is also worth noting that the match was only 28 years before they got their "revenge" on boxing Day 79 - That score had hurt them for a generation - hence why they still drag up Old Shit as if it is still relevant today, anytime they feel the need to do so.
Have you still got program did you know what the attendance wasRemember it?
I was there. I took my best pal along - he was a Wednesdayite. I don't think he ever recovered from the trauma.
