Wilder says he's got a "smashed cheek".

Hopefully that doesn't mean broken cheekbone because that means a few weeks out doesn't it?

Elbow to the cheek in the derby humiliation!

Cheekbone smashed means a couple of months really. Specially if it needs some surgery.

Best wishes to him though.

Call me crazy but is that pic a mirror image?

I watched him walk off looking very unsteady with his left eye and cheek looking bashed in.

Strikers are dropping like flies atm.

Presumably this will strengthen our intentions to bring in a forward player - given Clark and Lavery and Hanson look to be out for a couple of weeks. ( I'm no doctor obviously.)

Actually - I'm sure a number of players have been able to play with protective face masks. Seem to recall Cahill doing so. But obviously the ideal scenario is it's just bruised and h'll be back soon

Auditioning for Rocky Horror Picture Show?

Only Ched and Billy left standing ffs. Could o with a signing any time now

Clarke has one game left of his ban, right? If the league cup game counts.
Then there's Brooks and the other option might be Freeman if required.

I think Wilder will get another forward in before the end of the window.

"... a move which it is understood saved the player's sight in his right eye."

Bloody Hell.

Absolutely gutted for Lavery and us. An 100% player who always puts his body on the line as he proved on Saturday, how anyone can slag this off his beyond me. A top bloke and a top pro who will hopefully get a bit of luck with injuries.

The best comment I read from reports of Saturdays match was that Lavery even whilst we were all over them had nothing to do with it. Jeysus wept, he must've been stood in the stands or something. Keep slagging him off but the bloke will bounce back, you can tell by his character on the pitch.

Good luck Caolan, as hard as it must be right now you will be back, looking forward to the cheer that goes up when you are back, enjoy watching your teammates beat real pork ( still laughing at that name) keep the faith son. :-)

Caolan. I really feel for you with that very nasty injury. All us Blades want to see you back fit and raring to go. Good luck with it. UTB and FTP

Best comment was someone saying his heart wasn't in the game and that had the clash been one of the other players, they'd have stayed on the pitch.

Hope he feels a pillock now.
