Was talking to a few mates who are Forest fans after the weekend and they told me that at their game at Posh they were able to stand on terracing.

I really miss standing on the kop.
The atmosphere was better, the songs noisier, there was more of a variety of songs because they could catch on quicker, and it was a bloody site warmer in the winter.

Most of all I miss the utter madness of ending up 100 yds away from your mates after the celebrations from scoring a goal in a big game.

Any one else of the same opinion?

Utterly agree about ending up 100 yards away from your mates!
You could end up taking a few minutes to find em' again.
Was once away at Forest when we beat em 2-5 (Bassett era)and there was a bloke on his hands and knees looking for his specs after the euphoria. It was classic.
Jumping about going mental must look insane to non football followers.
Personally I used to like standing on the front of the old John street stand nearest the away end. Happy days.

Mmmmm. There must be an old thread on here somewhere with me and SF getting all misty-eyed about falling into the big, deep walkway half-way up the old kop after a goal?

Loved it at the time, wished we'd never had to get rid of it, but in the last few seasons, the atmosphere at times has been as good if not better with seating so theres no longer an arguement to bring it back.

Great at the time, but we've moved on and the ground is so much better now.

I always feel the atmosphere is a bit cack at the lane compared to the Bohemians games I go to here in Czech. 90 minutes of singing, beer available (sausages, bread and dripping and other goodies too). And standing.

Can have a wander round the terrace and see people.

Great times.

I'm lucky enough to still be able to stand as i'm on the very back row of the Kop.

Not the same as when it was terrace though. Loved it when we scored and it was a free for all and everyone swopped places !!!

Happy days spent on the Kop and the John Street West Wing !

If everyone on every Kop in the land said "We want our terraces back, but we'll still pay the same prices we do now" they'd be back for the start of next season.

I for one would go for that without a doubt.

Bohemians

Why follow a green team with a kangeroo for a badge when there's the mighty red and white stripes of Viktoria Zizkov in town (or even the red and white halves of Slavia Praha)??

(But anything has to be better than the bloody Dukla Prague away kit!!)

As soon as I saw on highlights that Peterborough still have standing in the away end, I noted our game there as one not to miss, whatever happens. So rare to get that chance now. I'm not quite sure of the regulations regarding eliminating standing in the lower divisions, or how long clubs promoted to the Championship get, but this may be the very last time we have a chance to stand while watching United in a league game (aside from standing in front of a seat, which isn't quite the same)

I would happily pay the same price to stand on a terrace as I do now to sit, and given that more people can be accomodated standing (and there's no seating to maintain) there are big profits for clubs if it were re-introduced.

It's been demonstrated in Germany and elsewhere that safe standing is perfectly possible. Hopefully one day English football fans will once again be allowed the choice.

Well BarcaB if it's cack atmosphere how come those Bohemians sing: -

“You doplnit má senses
Like jeden galon of Magnet,
Like jeden blok souboru of Woodbines,
Like jeden blaho bída of snuff,
Like jeden noc mimo do Praha,
Like jeden mastný čip buttie,
Like Sheffield United,
Come dosadit mne zas
Nah Nah Nah Nah Nah Oooh! ”
