Anyone else despise this league?

The bias towards the top clubs will never be eradicated so my anger is valid but ultimately wasted.
All I can do is console myself with the thought that away defeats to top clubs are not really what will see us relegated.
The points lost v Palace & Everton and at Forest are far more damaging.
We need to finish 7th in a league of 10.
We need to clamber above 3 teams.
We showed enough fight today to give us hope for some wins.
I thought we would have difficulty scoring this season but we've drawn a blank only once.
We've lost by 1 goal to City & Spurs.
I can't fault the lads for effort.

The thing is, in principle, I agree with punishing teams for time wasting.

However, we have 100% been ‘made an example of’ in this game, absolute nonsense and non consistency. You won’t see that much in any other game unless there’s a serious injury.

They’ve used today as a case study so in future they can go ‘see, don’t time taste it’s not worth it’.

I’m not saying it would only happen to us but it certainly would not happen to any of the big boys at all. Bullshit.
Well that’s bullshit for a start as the Brentford Newcastle game after ours had 9 minutes added on today and I’d hardly call Brentford one of the big boys who were pushing for the equaliser. Our time wasting today was on a different level to what I’ve seen before from a blades team. This victim crap is tiresome.

Yes.

I want us to go down from a fans perspective. Selfish? Damn fucking right. I want to enjoy watching the team I support week in week out
But your only a winning team in the championship if you do stints in the prem for parachute money .

Whether we deserved it or not today, I'm still in 100% agreement with the title of this thread. The top of the PL feels like a closed shop for the billionaires club. I would happily wave goodbye to a number of the 'elite' to a European super league on the basis that real financial limits are put in place for the domestic competition.

You have to make a decision if you want to be in the top league and the answer is yes.
Who wants to float around playing Preston (sorry Lillywhite fans) and Hull all the time.

Fact is that you aren’t going to automatically compete with the big boys.
You have to incrementally strengthen and improve like Brentford and Brighton are doing.
You also have to learn some hard lessons like playing 100% until the last second.
You’re up against the world’s best athletes who don’t switch off.
The kick in the nuts today was a hard lesson we’ll learn from.
Also you gotta keep your mouth shut Mr. McBurnie regardless of provocation perceived or otherwise.
Current state of play is we have a fairly decent side here. We know we don’t have much strength in depth yet, the next transfer window will be key.

No I don’t hate this league, it’s part of us growing as a club and winning things, if people don’t like that then go and watch the losers in the champ across the city.

it really shows the mindset of some of our fans this thread… most are probably over 50….
And there is this kind if mindset....most probably one of our younger, more entitled, under 50's who think that nobody else can have an opinion.

Give me the Championship any day of the week at least we have a fighters chance on that league. The Prem is like a game of FIFA

That’s all well and good if the EFL had decent money rather than the pittance it’s given to share among 72 clubs.

How are you not getting this? You’ve literally just given an example of a game that didn’t have 12 minutes?

Your needlessly aggressive patronising opening statement was as wrong as it was over the top. Luckily I’m an adult so I’ll forgive you.

More tin foil in this thread than the whole of General Chat.

Always the same from some. The ref, the PL, the opposition, etc.

Never ourselves.

As many of you have mentioned, the EPL is a closed shop, inherently corrupt & mired in petro dollar money. VAR & blatant favouritism towards the so called top teams ensures each season is a done deal. I find it a very unenjoyable & dispiriting experience. How ridiculous that we feel we can only compete if we attract billionaire (probably Middle Eastern) owners. So we sell the soul of our game to the most repressive regimes on Earth. MOTD is also unbearable with the grovelling, fawning pundits swooning over the big boys week after week. I actually prefer the championship as a competition. You play at proper times, twice per week & it feels more competitive. Also, as an infrequent attendee at matches, I can also get tickets. No chance in the EPL. But what do we do…. Bob up & down the lower leagues with no ambition? It looks like the best we can hope for is that we yo-yo, scrape up a few crumbs that drop from the table, & eventually get our claws in & become established. Yet I can’t help feeling there’s something inherently unsavoury about the whole set up.

During the 1991-92 season I was against the idea of having a Premier League. SUFC were one of the clubs that voted against having the PL. Derek Dooley said at the time that he is against the idea of a PL but if there is a PL then I would want us to be part of it.

I just scream for consistency from these refs. If 12 mins was deemed correct so be it and we were masters of our own downfall. Yet, why are we still seeing 3,4,5,6 mins of injury time going up elsewhere? Arsenal v Everton yesterday, the ball was definitely not in play for lots of the game and the ref adds on 4 mins at the end. 4. I guarantee had Everton been 1-0 up, it would have been 8. If you are going to do this, you need someone in the stands or at Stockley Park, counting the seconds/minutes and relaying it to the ref - not let them decide. And as for the new approach to ill discipline. Pickford - calls the linesman for everything, gets nothing. Every foul, 3/4 Arsenal players surrounding ref - no cards. Again, CONSISTENCY! If one ref is going to dish cards out like confetti, then they all will be doing.

I will be interested to have some stats on whether this new injury time is increasing the average ball in play.

We also broke the record for the most yellow cards at the weekend. Ive got news, it will get broken again.
