Anyone else despise this league?

All the moaning about the Prem, we actually need to snatch these times to make clubs like ours sustainable, games like today are really hard to swallow, but there‘s nothing we can do.

I certainly don’t want to be stuck in the championship, yeah its more competitive but there‘s the very real risk of falling into league one and as we’ve seen that’s bloody awful to get out of.

it’s gutting today but I’ve seen that we can be competitive in the bottom prem mini league, we just really need that first win, because the longer it goes on that pressure will be awful.

I don’t feel the sense of injustice particularly, but I don’t enjoy watching us in a league where we lose most of the time. I have far fonder memories of our League One title winning season than any of our 4 PL seasons I’ve seen, including Wilder’s.

Fucking brilliant
We need to be better
Inspirational !

Let’s try and learn from this. We need to turn the lane into an intimidating place that influences refs in our favour the same way other teams do . We miles behind others when it comes to shit housing . It’s the modern game that’s what you do. Blades let’s contest every challenge from the stands come on !

I think you have to look past the big headliner decisions and concentrate on the utterly blatant inconsistency in regular and constant decision making.

Contrast the actions of Manchester City and Tottenham Hotspur players and Sheffield United, look at the decisions, what one is punished for and one is allowed to just get away with…

That’s where you see your biggest problem.

Imagine a parallel universe in which the pigs are in the prem and the top thread on porktalk is moaning about being in the top flight.
We would have a field day.
Enjoy it to the max. They haven't been here since 2000 and this is our third trip back.

They've changed three rules that all favour the rich clubs: handball rule, added time rule, 5 subs rule. Expect increasingly lower point totals and less competitive matches as a result.

The other rule is the dissent rule which is rarely implemented against the top sides. See our Spurs and Man City games for copious amounts of evidence.

Except it wasnt 12 minutes in the second half though was it?

Fucking 12. That amount of time is reserved for clubs like us. If we’re 1-0 down, theres not a chance theyre putting 12 up no matter how much time spurs might have wasted.
Even with these new rules, anything more than 8 when there hasn't been a serious injury is ridiculous.

It's not 5-a-side football. You can't expect the ball to re-enter play in 5 seconds everytime it went out of play.

Not as if Wes was dallying, kicking his heels against the post, moving the ball to the other side of the goal etc, re-spotting it.

As they were losing, no matter what we did, we'd have been accused of time wasting.

Yep. He was accused of time wasting by getting smashed in the face, fetching the ball when the ball boy decided he only fetched it for spurs players and waiting for the referee to allow him to get the game back under way.

Funnily enough, they didn’t give a fuck when their keeper took the ball and brought it to our end after their second, or when two or three of them laid down, or when they decided to remain in our half while we waited to kick off.

It was also our fault they kept lobbing a second ball on during play.

Personally I hate the Premier League and the cheating, whining players such as Maddison and Haaland. Constantly in the referees ear trying to influence outcomes. Also the blatant favouritism shown towards the bigger clubs. However, if we are to grow as a club then we need to be an established Premier League club. Easier said than done I know. We can then at least redevelop the Kop if nothing else.

This isn’t because we lost today this has been building over the last 5 games.

What I see is 11 lads on the pitch giving it everything they’ve got … wether that is good enough is not the point … they are giving it everything and that’s all you can ask.

But it’s not a level playing field , the game is rigged and now matter how much blood, sweat and tears we put in it will never be enough.

Today I fell out of love with top flight football

It's just crap. Usually the richer and more successful clubs have players who are fitter and have more stamina. They also have bigger squads and can turn this to their advantage using rotation, and now using more subs. All the recent rule changes favour the top six. The longer the stoppage time, the more chance they have of scoring. All the advantages they have are just magnified.
For a global audience, this currently works, and money is made for those who run and control the big clubs and the media who promote them. By and large, with a few exceptions (Leicester a few years ago) it's stopped working for the domestic fans and the majority of clubs. If the "reward" for promotion is just a struggle on a very uneven playing field, what's the point?
I was very much against the super league, but I've changed my mind, and if they want to go, let 'em.

Being nasty to other teams supporters isn't the answer, It's far more likely to damage the club you support than the opposition .
More and more of the top clubs have American owners, and I doubt most of them are in it for the love of the game.
But having said that if Mr Trump were to take over United I doubt I'd complain much........;)

Sorry this "this we are hated by the premier league" attitude is utter bullshit

They don't care. If they had an agenda against us Basham would have rightly given away that pen and Wes would have been sent off for that hand ball too.
We spend our lives playing the victim, whilst despising all others. But in reality no one gives a shit about us, we’re just another football team.

As much as I enjoy being ‘part’ of the Premier league, it is by no means as enjoyable as the Championship and that’s even if we aren’t challenging for promotion.
I’m sure it was Wilder following the last promotion, saying that it we belonged as much in the premier league as the so called ‘big boys’.
As much as that is true, in actual fact the media, the officiating and the overall running of the premier league is purely for the big boys with the occasional sprinkling of the darlings of that season.
For our first season last time that was us. We had the overlapping centre backs, we had a different style of play and we actually (barring a couple of games), played like we had as much right to be there as Man City, Man Utd etc etc.
This time round, we don’t have a particular style of play, we don’t have a ‘story’ like Luton and due to poor management / board decisions, we have (points wise) made a bad start where If we had sorted our shit out, we could easily have had 3 or 4 more points.
The premier league actually couldn’t give a fuck about as - and really why should they? We are nobodies in terms of being able to make a dent in the table, but also have no USP this time round.
It’s by no means sour grapes as I can accept that we will be well beaten many times this season, but the officiating is so ludicrously biased towards the premier league untouchables, it’s embarrassing. It’s not just about the (sounded justified today) amount of time added on today, it’s the unpunished fouls vs the punished dives, the punished off the ball incidents vs exactly the same unpunished off the ball incidents, the international players trying to control the referee, the lazy punditry, the poor coverage, etc etc.
It’s blinkeredly and arrogantly called ‘the best league in the world’ but it really is not. Yes I want to stay in it because it’s the top tier and relegation can financially devastate a club, but I really dislike the obscene amounts of money spent, the arrogance and self entitled attitude of players, fans and even the media.

I am very meh about this league. We need to be here for one reason only and that's money.
Give me the Championship any day of the week at least we have a fighters chance on that league. The Prem is like a game of FIFA

Just like FFP, these new rules claim to be about fairness, but actually protect those already in power.

Adding 8-12 minutes onto the game is only ever going to favour those that (like today) can bring players off the bench worth more than our squad. Teams that have to dig in and defend, now have to do so for 15-20% longer regardless, with tiring players.

Why the smoke and mirrors? There’s a stadium clock that everyone can see. Balls in play, clock runs, balls out of play, clock stops. Even if it isn’t shady. It seems shady,

Every booking or sending off damages the smaller clubs who have less depth of quality.
Every little foul given against the smaller clubs winds up their players and makes them more likely to get cards.
Every additional minute harms the smaller clubs coz they haven't the squads from which to make quality substitutions.
And on and on ....
So it's very easy for refs to ensure that the big clubs win over the course of a season.
Today we defended heroically and almost counterbalanced the corrupt bias by claiming an undeserved win.

Again

THE PREMIER LEAGUE IS FUCKING BENT !!!!!!!
Of course it is. On the superficial level, all this extended extra time (aren’t we one of the very few to adopt this approach?) seems to be well judged. But in truth, it simply favours the richer clubs who have a bench full of international players.

I’m tired, disappointed and maybe a little drunk, but in truth, I’m about done with this game.

They don't realise it, but long term, they are killing the game.

So true - ref couldn't wait to send McBurnie off , both cards instantly ready , which seriously weakens us next week

No I don’t hate this league, it’s part of us growing as a club and winning things, if people don’t like that then go and watch the losers in the champ across the city.

it really shows the mindset of some of our fans this thread… most are probably over 50….

Justice must be seen to be done.
The easiest way for that maxim to apply to timekeeping is to take it off the ref and give it to a timekeeper like in Rugby League , Ice hockey , gridiron , basketball etc.
The only reason to leave it with the ref is to give him yet another way of being biased.

That’s certainly how it seems. American sports get this aspect right.
