You are talking complete nonsense. This is why we have sunk so low, because fans tolerate this sort of shit. This was one of the worst performances I have seen in over 40 years.

I am disappointed too. But I don't think this performance was as poor as the one against Walsall away a couple of weeks ago when we seemed to want to defend a 1-0 lead despite being a car crash defending crosses.

He did say "one of" the worst performances, problem is there have been so many it appears to be becoming the norm.

Oh, I thought we were having an intelligent conversation, sorry my mistake. If you think we are watching brilliant football you are very easily pleased and you can come and watch the paint dry on my garage door anytime you want.
I am not sure how anyone advocating sacking the manager if we get promoted, as well as taking us to the semi-finals of the FA Cup and League Cup, can claim to be contributing to an "intelligent conversation".

I've seen us play as bad a couple of times this season alone. And it would depress me too much to go back over my decades of Blade-watching to find other performances to compare it with. It was certainly a depressing result today though.

See above.

I understand anger tonight and I am hoping saying you would sack a manager that gets us promoted is just that anger spilling out into nonesense.

No I wouldn't sack Clough, give him next season if we don't go up and take stock at Xmas if we do but yes it can be sensible to sack a manager who gets us promoted.

If we'd done that with Warnock and given him a nice 400K bonus as a golden handshake we just might not be where we are right now?

Wasn't there but if it was worse I'm glad I wasn't. Surely we should stop defending Clough's inadequacies and move on.

Quote me out of context. At times it is brilliant to watch.

Highlights probably Gillingham, Scunny, Preston and Saints at home and Brizzle, QPR away with spells in plenty of others.

Even when it is slow and overly methodical, we are at least trying to keep the ball and play the game the right way. Unfortunately a lot of our crowd don't like that.

I go and watch Burton play four or so times a season as they are near to me. The other week I went and down to ten men and one nil down, they got a free kick on the half way line. Rather then lump it forward, they played it short went out wide, then passed it all the way back to the keeper, who then played it back out to the wing, built again and ended up getting an attacking throw.

The home crowd clapped them enthusiatically and generally were appreciative of trying to keep the ball and play it simple. It's quite an eye opener, I shudder to think the reaction had we done similar at the lane.

Jesus Christ! Burton are top of the league! Of course they are going to be happy and positive! If we are ever top of the league in March, you'll be watching matches at the lane filled with happy, positive fans.

Could you honestly not have worked that one out for yourself?

Depressing result being the key words. Not about performances right now, it's about results and we need to find a few biggies over the next few weeks to get some momentum going.

We could be top of the Premiership and would still have fans saying 'gerrit forrad.'

I go to watch Burton three or so times a season. They have not always been top and they had a sticky spell losing two before the game I went to.

Maybe there is something in them playing at the highest level in their history, but genuinely their fans are much more condusive to supporting possession football than ours are. Especially at home.

Believe me... I am not defending his inadequacies... just saying that I didn't think today's performance was the worst. Moving on is exactly what we need to do, and I was determined when I said that we needed seven points from the last 9 and we have got 6. But then the dilemma is that we still in the play off positions and we have shown during the season that we can pull out a big match performance. And once again I find myself saying the next match is critical. Once again, perhaps I am saying this too often.

You have to ask yourself is Clough the man to take this club forward in the future, well I'm 60 in a few months so for me the answer is a definite no. By the time Negative Nigel stumbles onto a winning formula to get promotion I and quite a few more long suffering fans could well be dead. Clough has never won a league promotion and never will.
Just a reminder of a post I read the other week ...................
Got this update last week from a pal of mine, life-long Ram, on living with Nigel:
Most Derby fans were broadly pro-Clough, because in addition to his name, they could see that he and done a good job re-modelling the side with no money to spend. Each season there had been some progress, all be it very small.
On the downside, he is not without his flaws. Chief among these are;
Total unwillingness to change tack when things aren't working- he never makes substitutions before the 89th minute and never ever ever changes tactics or formations during the course of a game.
Has no time for 'flair' (or foreign or, worryingly, black) players. Only likes honest artisans who run around and get a sweat on, regardless of ability.
Has favourites (see above) whose place in the side is guaranteed even after a dozen poor performances.
Publicly criticises and falls-out with players and never forgives them, even if they are our best player. He is never culpable for a defeat, it is always the (named) player's fault.
If you score early he will try to defend the lead for the whole game instead of looking for another goal- this invariably ends in disappointment!
Surrounds himself with a load of ex-forest yes-men (Crosby, Metgod, Garner etc) whom are too scared to ever contradict him.
?
He followed it up with:
I forgot to mention, every player you sign must come from one of the following locations:
1) must have played for either Burton Albion or Mansfield Town or preferably both.
2) the Scottish Premier League ( fertile hunting ground for the talentless trier).
3) the League of Ireland ( I presume he must like holidaying there).
Also, of course, you may not know the name of our chief scout was- Simon Clough!

If you have only seen us play badly a couple of times this season, then i would imagine you haven't been to many games this season.

I can think of plenty of dire performances this season. In the last 2 months, Preston H, Fleetwood H, Peterborough H and todays dismal effort.

Think you may have mis-read what I said... I said I HAVE seen us play as bad as today a couple of times this season, NOT only seen us play badly this season a couple of times. The point I was trying to make was that I have seen us playing badly many times over my years of supporting the Blades and just think today's match should be put into context.

Probably did take it out of context in a way on reflection.

On reflection it is performances like today, like the one against Fleetwood and too many others to mention that i have endured this season, that are amongst the worst i have ever seen.

That is what is grinding my gears at the minute.

IF we make the play offs, there is no way of predicting what Sheffield United we are going to get. Has anyone else in this league beaten so many of the top sides while losing so many to the lesser teams in the league? We have beaten Bristol, Preston, Swindon but lost to Crewe, Fleetwood etc.

I suppose that does seem to suggest we are more likely to be better in the play offs byt FFS, whats wrong with them?

Like you say, playing at the highest level in the club's history. So with the club being successful fans will be happy with the football.

Compared to us, we are at one of the worst points in the club's history and it's looking increasingly likely we'll be in this division again next season!

And I think you are right. The odd bad result will happen in the course of a season, but they seem to have been too regular by half. We still in the play off positions, hopefully will get over the finish line. But, I asked myself and HB Jnr walking back to the car this afternoon (after full time, not half time :)) if we get there, how confident can we be that we can play three consecutive high level games to get through?

This.

I've only been a season ticket holder for 14 years but this season at times has been the worst I've seen. The way I feel right now, after yet another absolutely diabolical performance, you'd think we'd just lost to Wednesday.

You haven't been to many games if you think that was one of the worst performances in 40 years. Re read my post, it what way have I said that the performance was tolerated. Typical whinging Blade. Start to have a go at the way some fans support the team and start ranting. Take a step back, read fully what has been written and then tell me how good in terms of vocal support some fans were today.

In fairness I think Gillingham away was as low as it gets this season

Another wanker post from someone who can't have a constructive debate. Maybe you need to look at your over sensitive self before having a go at others....Or maybe even go to a game

Oh fucking hell, I'll debate with anyone the virtues of my beloved team but you tend to get all defensive and bitter. Name calling too, how impressive

If I wasn't 5000 miles away I'd be at every game sunshine, and if anyone was getting on my tits I'd have a word, not do all my gobbing on here.

"Yawn"

Very good post and extremely debate worthy. Whereas we should all sit up and pay attention to your slagging of the fans, now that's worth a "Yawn"

Don't know about that sunshine but you were on this board the other week telling us all how you hated Monty and despised Warnock; then we won a few and you were conspicuous by your absence. Today we lost to a goal in what, the 90th minute, and you bounce back telling us all that you are embarrassed to be a Blade. I'm not convinced that your 'support' for SUFC is good for either party; I have noticed that Chelsea have a reasonable win percentage, perhaps that institution would be more worthy of your patronage?

Apologies but you appear to be talking bollocks.

"We won a few". Oh yeah, almost forgot our winning streak.
