me. I persuaded my Wednesday supporting boss to break his habit of a lifetime and bet on us in a last man standing game he's in, as we'd definitely win.
Same here ,first time Ive ever put us in ,only 2nd week too :(

Freeman did fine today. Some of the others were at 30%.

Massive drop in performance from Tuesday.

nearer 60,000 - but I understand your point
Its one thing turning up in numbers, its another thing being part of, a) a library, and b) whingeing moaning impatient wrist slashers.
You may think its justifiable given our lowly league position, but believe me, the crowds mood definitely transposes to player/team performance.
It'll never change though and its not just the Bramall Lane crowd, all of em are the same. Nature of the football fan beast alas!
However, we were shite today and if that's how folk choose to try and support the team, hey ho. I think its hugely counter productive and helps no one except the fan screaming the abuse.

The fans were shit and have been for the majority of recent home games. Having won 4-0 a few days earlier you think they'd give them a bit of leeway but oh no, straight onto their backs within 10 or 15 minutes gone. I genuinely don't understand why some bother going, they clearly get little enjoyment out of going whatever the result.

The fans are not on their back. It's like a morgue. The general chitter chatter may be really negative, but the dire performances cannot be blamed on the fans.

UTB

40000 in a week for league one dross.. our fans are so shit it is unbelievable

58,000 over 7 days. Credit to the club our fans.

Some won't believe this but i think it's time to stop calling for Cloughs head now, the time was no later than end of January. We've just got suck it up until the end of the season and hope somehow he gets us promoted. Then I'd sack him!

Sadly, around me at least, they are on their backs - especially the likes of Baxter and Holt (who incidentally I thought were our two better players today).

It's not an environment that's set up to thrive in that's for sure.

This whole debate about should the fans get the players going or the players get the fans going again!

IMO it absolutely has to be latter as there are only 11 of them and 20k of us so inevitably there's too many of us with loads of different opinions

For me I go to be entertained or at least in the hope of .. And I respond to that .. If there is nothing there I have nothing to respond to .

The absolute minimum requirement for me when you're a pro footballer is to live and die for the cause ...anything north of that is greatly appreciated .

I don't boo but god they annoyed me today especially because Tuesday showed how good we can be

You'd sack him if we got promoted?

I would too.

Oh Dear.

Clough gets lots of justified criticism but you only have to look at views such as yours to understand why some of us think some fans are fucking bananas.

Negative Nigel? You'd think that would make him your hero.

Bp I am being positive, keeping him would be a negative for the club in the long run. Yep getting promoted would be an unbelievable bonus this season, but if you want to see this shite negative football week in week out keep him. Or take the positive out of the promotion and replace him or we will fester at best or more likely get relegated.

See above.

I understand anger tonight and I am hoping saying you would sack a manager that gets us promoted is just that anger spilling out into nonesense.

No not anger spilling over. I was unhappy with his appointment but he won me over last season and I was very excited about this season Bp. But, with his failure to attract top players or dynamic talented loanees coupled with his tactics and substitution gaffs resulting in extremely boring football has made me want to see the back of him or I fear the remaining years I have watching the Blades will be very dour and unsuccessful.

Don't expect to get promoted this season but I'd take it in any form good, bad or ugly. However, NN will not change next season. When at Derby he had to sell sell sell. Not his fault but the point is until coming to BDTBL he's never had the funds to buy and build a team, but when we have him the funds he's failed to use them effectively. Warnock was good at getting the best out of players but he's never been good in the transfer market when he had funds. Clough doesn't appear to have either quality.

How can that be? According to plenty on here and on the radio they get behind the boys and sing their hearts out for the lads.

Please don't tell me that doesn't happen, you just shattered another dream.

We did, for a short while, and then the moaning minnies started ...

Kicking the lads when they were down.

It's the Blades way (no reference to himself by the way ;)

I know the 1st half wasn't vintage by any means but I couldn't understand the boos at half time. I'm sure that made the players feel better, not

Apart from us being bottom when he took over and us being 5th just over a season later.

Apart from getting the best out of the likes of Murphy and Flynn who have been like different players.

And I really don't get this hatred of our style. We play possession football, it could and should be faster at times but when it clicks which it has done plenty it isbrilliant to watch. A million miles better than Blackwell or DW's second season.

Then to top it all if we got promoted you would sack the manager that achieved it, just to burst the bubble of any feel good factor amongst the squad going up.

That clown is the most appropriate avatar on this forum based on that.

There was a great move today.....backwards....sideways......sideways......sideways......backwards.........all done really, really slowly........then we gave the ball away. And ended up losing. Our 6th home defeat.

As you say, great to watch.

Difficult to understand nearly 20,000 show up to support them and the team puts in that poor performance.

Oh, I thought we were having an intelligent conversation, sorry my mistake. If you think we are watching brilliant football you are very easily pleased and you can come and watch the paint dry on my garage door anytime you want.

Quote me out of context. At times it is brilliant to watch.

Highlights probably Gillingham, Scunny, Preston and Saints at home and Brizzle, QPR away with spells in plenty of others.

Even when it is slow and overly methodical, we are at least trying to keep the ball and play the game the right way. Unfortunately a lot of our crowd don't like that.

I go and watch Burton play four or so times a season as they are near to me. The other week I went and down to ten men and one nil down, they got a free kick on the half way line. Rather then lump it forward, they played it short went out wide, then passed it all the way back to the keeper, who then played it back out to the wing, built again and ended up getting an attacking throw.

The home crowd clapped them enthusiatically and generally were appreciative of trying to keep the ball and play it simple. It's quite an eye opener, I shudder to think the reaction had we done similar at the lane.

Don't disagree with playing good attractive football but the ultimate objectives are to score goals, entertain the crowd and win promotion (at least I think football still comes under the genre of entertainment).

We are in the third division, although non of us like it it is our job to get out of this piss poor league. If that means playing tough hoof footy and getting dirty wins so be it, I would take that any day rather than the detritus we are watching now. Once back in the championship we can start building and playing better football that we are capable of ergo Southamption, Villa et al

Which is where me and you are on a totally different planet. So we will have to agree to disagree.

At least we wont have to worry about no FLS tonight.
:)

No one deserved any credit today including some of the fans who seemed to revel in getting on the backs of the players
That was the most negative crowd I have been in for a long time with little backing of the team
This was the minute Crewe scored their first and continued throughout. Yes we were poor buy it is better to show your frustrations at the end of the game instead of after every non forward pass-
You are talking complete nonsense. This is why we have sunk so low, because fans tolerate this sort of shit. This was one of the worst performances I have seen in over 40 years.

Careful, he'll get all prissy and start to cry :tumbleweed:
