Anyone care that we weren't in FA Cup today?

Didn't care one bit, and I won't until we're established in the 2nd division.

No. I'm glad we're not in it. At the moment its hindering one of our rivals and not us, it's a hindrance (bar the money) when you're gunning for promotion in this league.

It's been a great chance to up the pressure on Bolton with another 3pts to separate us.

Great day today!

Can do without the extra games but it would be good to measure ourselves against Championship or Prem opposition.

The OP is right. It was a bad day for Bolton today, not because they drew with Palace but because they fell further behind in the League. Their game in hand is away at Oxford, which is by no means a definite win for a side that lost at Chesterfield and scraped a draw at Coventry.

It's all good for the Blades :)

Was disappointed not to make it to the third round as we've had some great recent memories at this stage (villa particularly was enjoyable) but after this result today I'm glad we're not in it, we've taken the opportunity to stretch ahead of some of the others who will have to play midweek and playing catch up. Great day

Not at all. It's good for once to have the pointsame in the board instead of looking up the table thinking if we win our 2/3/4 games in hand we can get up there.....

Not when we're top of the league and on this kind of form, normally I love the cup but right now I couldn't give a shit.

I usually enjoy it if we have a good cup run, but today I was glad we weren't involved. A mid-week fixture out of the way, 3 points to put pressure on others, Bolton with a replay... A price worth paying this season.

Quite frankly its embarrassing.

While we are on the subject of cups, how come 'Nice Guy' Eddie Howe doesn't have Bournemouth fucked a new shit-chute for fielding a patently understrength and visibly not-much-fucked side against Milwall today?

Just like we did when we made four changes and lost.

I hope to see Bolton in the FA Cup Semi Final. That will do very nicely.

Always loved the FA Cup, and I think it's a real shame for the traditions--and therefore the roots--of the game that hardly anyone cares about it any more. 3rd round Saturday was always my favourite day of the season, long after I was just a kid. The fact that it barely registers today, certainly among many who only know football since Murdoch, seems kind of sad to me.

That said, while the liner is steaming so elegantly and efficiently down one route it would be daft to send it off somewhere else with the main trip half done. So, yeah, another GREAT performance and 3 points today, and bollox to the Cup !* :)

*for this year at least.

I'm glad we got knocked out but it could still fuck things up for us.

Oxford are through to round 4 and that means our game with them has to be rearranged.

I just know that it's going to be lumped in there between the Scunthorpe and Bolton games. Which will just be perfect.

When we had a run it was great, now we are top of the league and putting distance between us and the rest I don't give a fuck.

But we should have been knocked out in the 3rd round minimum.

It's alright some saying they wanted Bolton to get a replay but what if now they've got their replay, they then win their replay and get someone big in the next round, all this leading to them not only keeping hold of Clough, Vela and their other relative starlets but strengthening in other areas too? A cup run can come in very handy and I disagree completely that it hinders your league position when on one.

Very good win today but I think some people would've answered the question differently had we lost. ;)

Couldn't give a single, solitary shit.

I love a good Cup run, but we need to get out of this league.

In the FA cup a couple of years back we were one half of football away from our greatest result since 1925.

That is all.

What about 1936 ? We obviously won a semi final that year before we got unluckily edged out to a Ted Drake inspired Arsenal in the final 1-0. I suppose if we had won v hull shitty it would have been the best joint result we had enjoyed since 1925 in the CUP...but still not the best overall. The best results are always those where we have firmly put the scum from south barnsley back in their box.
