Any ideas on when the new manager will be appointed?

Who the hell is Morgan to dictate the new management structure? Like Cresswell, he was only taken onto the coaching staff to save costs. He has done absolutely nothing to place himself in a position of strength. A new manager should decide on his assistants, not existing members of staff!

What next, Mrs. Doyle insists KR can't be manager unless he remains captain?

Sometimes I despair.

I don't think Morgs will necessarily be dictating to the Board, he obviously wants the manager's job but it sounds like the board want to give it to someone else but keep him at the club so there will inevitably be further discussions. As SEB says, it has to be a take-it-or-leave it as far as Morgs is concerned but this would leave a 'position vacant' for the No.2 hence more delay.

When we hired Steve Bruce we kept Steve Thompson as an assistant manager (or was it coach). Before the appointment Thommo seemed determined to stay on at the club in any capacity. After a few months he left anyway.

The situation may be a bit similar now, with the board reluctant to lose Morgan, but like then it may not be a great solution to "force him upon" a new manager.

Terry Skiverton was Yeovil manager last year and stepped down to AM to let Gary Johnson come in. Seemed to work for them...

Steve Bruce didnt rate Thommo and sacked hin in November (I think). It was a mistake keeping Thommo at the club on a promise that if they do not make him the manager for 1998-99 season. If we need a manager with a proven track record then that would mean that he would have known Morgan well and rate him as a coach. How many are there? Wilson was one and he is not coming back. I do not want the club to make the same mistake as they did in 1998

I remember the club I played for (this happened some years after I last played for them) had an election in the AGM for who was to be the manager and assistant manager, as a result there was two who had the most vote so the chairman decided that they would work together but he didnt realise that the pair didnt have much in common and disliked each other. Come September, just before the first match of the season, the pair had a punch up because they disagreed on the team selection which was embarrassing for the club.

Just remembered... when Joe Mercer became our manager in 1955, he was very much a "hands on" manager and our trainer (that was the title in those days), Ernest Jackson (who joined the backroom staff after his playing days ended in 1948 or 49) wasnt happy with the training sessions and left the club not long after (few days after Mercer was appointed the manager)

if there is no manager in charge it makes it much easier for our esteemed chairman to sell the likes of Harry and George
