An observation today of the man in the middle.
Kicking towards the bramall lane end today one of the Blades players was pushed over in the box. From the kop it looked a sure penalty, much harsher a challenge than we gave a penalty away for at scunny the other night. We got no penalty. A few minutes later in front of the John street stand a slight challenge results in a free kick to Derby. Total inconsistency, I hate wank refs.

I thought Savage referee'd the game very well

The ref had a better game than most of our team

We can't use it as an excuse for where we are but the standard of refereeing this season has been abysmal.

Today's referee completely spoilt the game. He wanted to be the star attraction, he wanted everybody to look at him yet he had zilch respect from the players.

Why do the referees insist on making the goalkeepers move the ball 2 yards to take free kicks in the right place? Like they were going to shoot?

Why do we have to have a lecture for every foul these days? Surely the ref says 'Last warning' or shows a card? He stopped the game for almost a minute to talk to Williamson at one point - why? Say 'no more' or book the player.

Why do referees get involved in corners? If someone is fouling someone, let the corner be taken and then give a free kick or a penalty for it. You wouldn't stop the game at any other point and warn a player not to foul someone!

Why do referees ask for players to hurry up when they're time wasting? Just book them ... immediately. It's ungentlemanly conduct. I've never seen a first half yellow card for time wasting. If more refs did that, it's hurry the subs and keepers up!

Another pearler from the "Ref" today. We had a corner and he stopped the game to lecture a couple of players for pushing and shoving. A few minutes later, Derby had a corner and Robinson was ragging Evans all over. He did nothing. A total cock.

Not that it had any effect on the result. That was down to us.
