longtime lurker and occasional poster, been around since the SUISA days.

happy to find a board that has a broad range of topics and written in english rather than text speak.

Excellent - we could start a clique :-)

Nice place you have here...

...and some familiar faces from VP days propping up the virtual bar as well. ;)

Hi Everybody,

Another refugee from BU and a veteran (in another guise) of Viewpoints too. Hope to make some occasional contributions when something moves me enough :-)

Good morning all,

Yet another ex BU watcher rather than contributor. Enjoyed the banter there and good to see a few familier names cropping up.

A relief to all is that there is a place on here for the more eccentric "off topic" discusions of legal advice , IT help and Politics . Although i learn't quite a bit , i could see why it got in the footy and annoyed some people at times .

Them were't days. Back then, the internet was for the select few (although us students managed to sneak in somehow (as Radford Blade back in the day)) and therefore the cricket and politics forum masquerading as a Sheffield United forum always seemed rather more highbrow than more recent incarnations. Maybe it's because nowadays even the plebs have internet access.

:hello: Welcome to the forum Radioblade, Musical Blade, LSF, Lordsy, The Fox & Trigger Blade! :)

hope you stick aroud and enjoy the banter, we're all blades aint we :D

Indeed... a very warm welcome to you all :)

I managed to drag it ashore Bradders, so once I've dried it out, it will be fully operational again. The debate is a bit more balanced here, so hopefully I wont need to work so hard to recruit members. The uber-negative posters have seemingly gone to their spiritual home. As I mentioned to Linz, they had a 58 post thread on 'Why are we so crap?', at HALF TIME on Friday.

Supporting a football team is just a lifetime of disappointments and frustrations with the odd special day every now and then that seems to make it all worthwhile. Why make it worse for yourself by fretting about the inbetween bits, I say. Its only football, and no-one supports the Blades for the glory of it. If they want success that bad they could always change and support Man United..?

Ah but, i,m definately from the sceptical wing of the party and didn't join the "chin up" club.
Supporting a football team might be as you say it is but teams in a big football city have, or should have, the odds slightly tipped in their favour opposed to the Doncasters and Rotherhams, etc.
We must be the most underachieving city in the Uk and I don't like it and expect this to alter any season now.

Hey Mall! I saw you'd joined. I agree, there is no doubt that we should have had more success, and how between us and the pigs we have one trophy (ignoring the 4th Div Title) to show for ourselves since 1935 is disgraceful really. Sadly, the only realistic chance we ever have now of lifting a trophy is the CCC title, just as the only chance we have of getting to Wembley is another Play-off Final. The big teams dominate the FA Cup, and League Cup, and as for getting into Europe...I think thats a long way off.

The 'Chin-up Club' wasn't supposed to be about caring less about the results and the performances. I think thats where some people got me a bit wrong. By all means have a grumble but then get some perspective, and stop ruining the rest of your week because of 90 mins on Saturday. Football is supposed to be enjoyable, so shake off the defeats and disappointments. There'll be plenty more...

Couldn't agree more. It probably makes it easier that i don't get to Bramall lane every week, but win or lose, it takes me about an hour to get over it.

I don't think that BU was at all balanced. There were far more 'clappers' than 'knockers,' it was just the knockers were far more vocal. Personally i loved reading Len and curtis' posts, even if i agreed with about 0.1% of them. I don't think i'll ever read another thread more amusing on a forum in my life than the Beattie alloy's one. That was pure comedy gold. As for Len, most of his posts were written fairly intelligently.

The posters that really annoyed me were trueblade and edinblade. Like a bloody broken record they were.

Well I was Alien Woodward on BU but for some reason can't use that alias here.

Please check your private messages.

The confusion came from you registering in 2007 with a different username (Hibernian Blade) to the one you now want (AlienWoodward) :)

Another long lost poster here and given that Radio started the thread (hello Lee ;) ), probably as good as anywhere to post my hello.

Was Old Vp and suisa - and very very occasional BU but I lost my password a long time ago for there.

Some may know me better as Woodford Green Blade - but it's been a while since those days hence the different user name :)

Welcome ZoneManWilf.

There are many claims to the best BU/VP post ever, but for me, the crown will always belong to Woodford Green Blade, it still makes me smile after all these years ;-)

hello everyone

An ex BladesUnited observer here - used to enjoy the points of view and banter on there - long may it continue.
