We aren’t going to start playing 4-4-2.

In hindsight maybe Fleck should’ve played with Coutts to ensure we won the midfield battle. That would’ve made things much more simple. Lundstram couldn’t win a midfield battle if he was playing on his own.
 
Again, no one was expecting the first 11, but there was so little familiarity in that team in a style of play that depends on it.

I totally get people's anger but Wilder gambled on out 2nd string being good enough to beat a lower half non league side. It should have been good enough too but far too many of them just didn't want to know.

Theyll want to know why they’re being shipped out to a league one side next week on a 6 month loan.
 
Honestly I am ashamed to say I wasn't that upset about this result , I am pissed off with the madine signing even though friends who are itk say he's changed
 
Those 11 players should have been more than capable of beating non-League Barnet. Not sure if I heard the guy commentating right, but I think he said Wilder had never lost to a lower league team in the FA Cup.

lolz aside, there may have been suggestions of changes and rests for various players, but not a full team.

I mean, why not have Bash play as he was relatively fresh?

I’ve not paid any attention to it when it was on, saw we’d made 10/11 changes and thought it was disrespectful to the competition. There are many that don’t like the FA Cup and will be glad to be out, but I guess Wilder though the team was good enough to win and the quality would be there.

Well done to Barnet, good to see lower league sides progress and we all know the feeling of a giant killing.

It's a waste of money paying to watch a Cup game whilst Wilder is manager. At least 6 changes guaranteed and they just go through the motions. Didn't even bother fielding a full strength side in the last 16 against a PL club last season.

He's a great manager and I wish he'd try harder to put us in a winning position in these games.

Deluded isn’t really an insult in my eyes, apologies if you took it that way. There’s nothing wrong with getting to the latter stages but in my opinion risking our league form to compete in a competition we have no chance of winning would be foolish.
 
The players didn't take it seriously from minute 1. Even during the warm up pre game they were more interested practising free kicks than doing that sprinting one at the end. No chance that would be allowed in a 1st team league game.

These players had a chance to stand up and say they are challenging for a 1st team spot (like Leyton orient a couple of years ago) but they have justified why they aren't starting

Burton are in the semis of the league cup. Anything’s possible once you get to the quarters, and that’s very possible for a top championship side.

What I will say though - this side should comfortably beat barnet.
 
So now most of us will have to suffer re runs of this embarrassment on MOTD until our dying day, add us to the likes of Leeds Newcastle Coventry etc put out of the 3rd round by non league minnows. Embarrassing , disgraceful etc you know these sort of words do not do that performance and result justice.
I take nothing away from Barnet anyone who didn't know better would have thought they were the league team.

Yeah a few of them won't play again for us. They've blown any chance of Wilder calling on them unless there is a serious injury crisis.

I have to say too that I wish we had kept Lafferty and sent Johnson back. If Stevens gets a long term injury we will be struggling.
 
Because there is only under 23s football am I right in thinking that even those on the edge of the squad get no competitive football aside from 5 mins here and there? From memory you can play 2 or 3 over 23s.

Makes sense why some of them looked so lacklustre

Wednesday lost 2 first team players yesterday in a game that will have to also be replayed.

That will have an impact on their league campaign.

Wilder has used today as a way to utilise his squad depth and we’ve been beaten by a penalty.

No issues from me if I’m honest.
 
Our 2nd string should be good enough to beat a national league side which confirms what we already know we have a good 13/14 but after that the quality isn’t there, Lundstrum flatters to deceive there is a player in there but lacks the consistency to be a championship player, Johnson I’d send back to Boro as he’s done very little for me, that said once the Madine signing is confirmed the only time I will go is if he’s not in the matchday 18.
