I think this is a theme with foreign players making Championship moves. They sign their initial 3 to 4 year contract but the plan is not to sign another deal but use the club as a stepping stone to another.

Souza even if we got promoted was unlikely to renew I reckon.

Berge didn't renew.
Ndiaye didn't renew.
Anel didn't renew.

All had multiple contract offers made to them while here and promotion to the PL didn't change their stance.

I think we’re Souza was concerned, he wanted to leave the season before and the club/Wilder asked him to stay another season and if we didn’t get promoted they would let him leave?

Absolutely we can rekindle to be a good side again, the basis is there apart from a lightweight back 4 and a lacking at present forward line. I like what Seles is doing and hope to see green shoots on Saturday. Did you enjoy the last season and a half under Wilder ?
I enjoy winning football so I enjoyed most of it yes. If we lose every game 4 3 it don't be boring but I wouldn't enjoy it. Style over substance fans are weird creatures to me. Most seasons what we did last year would have been enough so to talk it down like we were shite is plainly unjustified

Our squad has changed considerably since last season

No BBD, Choudary, Anel, Souza, Moore, Brewster, Gilchrist, Rak Saki, Holding, Clarke.

Possibly another departure before window closes?

And an unknown manager

Is everything OK at home?

Genuinely how many of those are a massive loss based on their performances last season?

A lot of teams are weaker now than compared to last summer, look at Ipswich starting 11 now vs this time last season, they're weaker now.

Leicester are weaker as well, the only team I'd say are stronger right now are Millwall.

As for our departures, I'd say quite a few of those players have been replaced.

Players who take the departed players spots in starting 11/bench
Holding replaced by Bindon
JRS replaced by Brooks
BBD replaced by Barry
Souza replaced by Soumare
Brewster replaced by Ukaki

Replacements we still need
Clarke and Gilchrist replaced by 1 new RB to compete with Seriki
Anel replaced by 2 new CB's, 1 starter, 1 cover
Moore replaced by 1 new ST
Choudhury potentially replaced by another new CM/CDM

4/5 replacements in total, and not all of them have to be starters.

As for Selles being an unknown manager, is he an unknown manager?

I don't think he is, I think he's been around English football long enough not to be unknown.

Yes we're his biggest/toughest job yet, but you could have made the same argument for CW after he left Northampton for us.

Leicester, Saints may be weaker than last season but that’s a common theme when relegated from the PL and personally wouldn’t put to much emphasis on how weak they are now. They’re in the Championship and all 3 will be competitive imo,

As for Millwall yeah maybe? Any reason why you don’t think Birmingham aren’t stronger this season, or Wrexham?

As a set of squad players, they are all a loss. No team will achieve anything with 14/15/16 decent players. You need 2 good players for every position to have a chance of automatic. It's not just about the first 11

lol bit nosey aren’t you? 😁

Massive loss or not, that squad achieved 92 points. As it stands today, I don’t think it will achieve anywhere close to that figure
That’s only my opinion and of course you’ll have yours

If we sign 3 or 4 decent signings by close of window (preferably before) my opinion might/will change?

Wrexham no, because while they've signed some good players (really liked Ryan Hardie last season for Plymouth), they've got quite a few players on big money who aren't good enough for championship, most of whom will probably be moved on and need replacing.

As for Birmingham, in fairness I should have said they are stronger (especially upfront), but Beadle in goal (when they could have had Rushworth instead) changed my mind.

With Anel seemingly on his way out unfortunately but rather get money so we can invest rather than lose him for free, I'd love for us to move for Charlie Hughes or that Kinkoue from le havre we were linked with

Undoubtedly the right time to sell at the price mooted. All about how we replace him.

As a club it's vital we don't let him walk for nothing and reinvesting in a player that will commit for 3+ years is a non negotiable. Has to be a permanent signing in this position.

I think it's good business. It may weaken us slightly (short term potentially) but medium to long term we need to invest in having our own players we can keep to build a successful team or move on for profit (or both).

You must be easily pleased.so many times we were second best,I disliked it intensely but it all about opinions.

You also need an unrealistic budget to be able to do that in the Championship.

He would get in the team, but not every week/game, the same as any player? It's not about 11 players, is it?
It is if you’re talking about promoted sides being better than the team who finished 3rd and listing a player we’ve happily sold as someone who would get into our team. You’ve had a mare and are trying to now pivot into it’s about squads, which is also nonsense as you would have been saying that Wrexham and Coventry have better squad depth.
Give it up, you’d pissed your pants and flounced out an illogical post. It happens.

Exactly, name the current Wrexham and Coventry players that would get into our current starting eleven
No-one from Wrexham would get close but I’d take Ollie Rathbone as a squad player and Arthur Okonkwo as back up keeper.

From Coventry (for the next day or so!) Milan van Ewijk is a better right back than Seriki right now while Jack Rudoni would probably push Callum O’Hare out. They’ve got a couple of adequate centre halves (Bobby Thomas and Joel Latibeaudiere) who’d be close to being first choice here if Ahmedhodžić leaves.

I still think we’ve a better XI than Coventry overall and I suspect by the end of the window we’ll be even further ahead.
He was a good championship squad player for a team that got 90/92 points last season
He wasn’t. He scored 5 in 30 matches and missed two penalties. He had nuisance value when we went long and he was decent at defending set pieces but for one of our top earners he was a huge disappointment.

Flatulent Bob says I've pissed my pants🤣 ok mate

I hope your right but i genuinely think they’ve no idea what their doing maybe they need a DOF, to help out with transfers ? Have they spent all their money on buying us ? Are they/we skint ? none of it makes any sense why buy us in first place Wrexham and brum yank owners are putting decent money in
The font of football knowledge Mr Bettis who is now regrettably on the board doesn't believe in Directors of Football and he knows better than 19 of 20 Premier League clubs, the majority of Championship clubs and the majority of clubs in Europe who all have them.

Which camp is Brewster part of then??
I don’t think Brewster will be missed.

If anything his presence and the need to justify his purchase got in the way.

You could have easily split his minutes between Brooks and Rak-Sakyi, throw in a few more for O’Hare and you don’t miss him.

I believe we stand to make a profit on him here? Happy to be corrected if I'm wrong. He's easily replacable in my opinion

If the bbc story is right £15.6m is a good deal for us, get a new centre back in plus money in bank towards a right back or loan signings

Fight between Ipswich and Birmingham for akpom. Birmingham now wanting to sign permanently. Obviously both after promotion
