...is due to join the Blades for £1.2m according to some press reports.

What do we know about him?

What's his best position/role?

Would he be a good 'fit' in the current squad restructuring?

Or more likely on this forum:

Will Blackwell ruin him?

Do his former fans think he's crap? and

Is it cheap-as-chips wasting yet more money?

Why oh why dont you read the forum, this thread already exists in the rumour section, all you are doing is cloggin up the forum.

Sorry, I haven't had time to read all the forum.

I've been getting a life.

I'm really pleased for you. Nice of you to find time though in your opener to have a pathetic dig at people who think Blackwell is not a very good manager and who dare to mention it on a fans forum.

To Answer your questions sir

What do we know about him? Left Southampton for Wolves apparently turning us down for 1.2m rising to 2m, Born in South Africa

What's his best position/role? Left wing i think hope no one jumps down my throat if am wrong

Would he be a good 'fit' in the current squad restructuring? Squad restructuring? am not sure. Now a change in tactics to passing the ball am sure he would fit in.

Or more likely on this forum:

Will Blackwell ruin him? If he plays hoof ball yes

Do his former fans think he's crap? No idea and

Is it cheap-as-chips wasting yet more money? No i'd say he'd be a good signing to go with Britton

to be honest i think surman would be a good signing although not to sure if i would want to spend 1.2m possibly a seasons long loan i think signing another striker and also getting though defensive and goalkeeping positions out would be more of priority and in regaurds to blackwell ruining him if he decides to play long ball he will ruin britton aswell dont think blackwell is a good manager but i dont think he is a poor one either i think he is very average and one dimensional

With the players linked to utd its clear there has been some sort of policy change so i doubt we'll see too much long ball. Hoping it has changed. My last game was home vs preston at xmas and that was shocking!! Just a little flair and creativty and i'm telling you its easily play off times!

Here, let me help you out:

"To be honest I think Surman would be a good signing, although I'm not too sure if I would want to spend £1.2m on him. I would favour a season long loan myself.
I think signing another striker and sorting out the defence and goalkeeping positions would be more of a priority.

In regards to Blackwell "ruining" him, then if he decides to play the long ball game he will ruin Britton as well. I don't think Blackwell is a good manager but I don't think he's a poor one either. I think he's average and very one dimensional."

Seems an odd story to me. Cannot see where we could possibly get £1.2m from or afford his wages.
His career record isn't very good either.

First of all, I think the Mails article is a rehash from another rag printed yesterday. I also think it may have been misinterpreted. I believe the fee mentioned (£1.2m) is actually the fee Wolves paid for him from Southampton and not the fee to be paid when he moves to an unnamed ccc club as reported in yesterdays article.

Even if the £1.2m fee is accurate, I would expect that the total would be made up of an agreed fee (say £750k) with the balance made up in the way of add ons/appearances etc.

His career record isn't very good in what respect?

I would imagine that the £1.2m would come from the proceeds of the Kenny & Sharp (once it happens) transfers.

I don't think we'll pay £1.2m, not straight away, it will be one like the Evans deal. Wolves will want as much back as possible from what the paid for him. If we get him on a seasons long loan he'll once again prove just how good he is then sign for a promoted club (please see Gregory Halford.) He is a very good player who just hasn't been given the chance at Wolves for whatever reason. I think £1.2m is a decent price, not sure if we can afford it or not though.

His career record isn't very good either.

Why?

He played for England U21's 4 times and scored once all whilst playing for an average Southampton side, he also popped up with 15 goals for them over a few seasons. As a Left Back/Left Midfielder that isn't a bad return for a young lad. He also takes good Free Kicks and corners.

At one point he was Southamptons youngest ever player until Theo Walcott beat his record.

Like I said, his career record certainly does not warrant SUFC spending big money and big wages.
Couldn't cut it in the Prem and done nothing recently.
And if we can't afford Simonsen, I can't see how we can afford him anyway.
Beginning to look as if we're going to be a shambles again. Mark Bunn. Oh ferking dear.

our gert would be better in the net than Mark Bunn.. but i have faith in our leaders !
