To Preston Wednesday night how do we think the result yesterday will affect our build up? Are we playing Preston at a good time? IMO we need to get back in the playoff spots with some very winnable games coming up after the PNE game.

Two conflicting factors here:

- We were in a battle yesterday, so there will undoubtedly be knocks, bumps and bruises to patch up. The players put their all in physically and i expect the starting team to be slightly different from Sunday. Perhaps Willo out for Phillips or something.

- The other side is that the way we gave this game away to the pigs, could mean that we're really up for Preston, No better time to put things right than within a few days. Other lads will push for their chance to shine. So again, Phillips will be ready, Clarke will be chomping at the bit

I'm inclined to think that we'll be well up for in on Weds.

Yesterday, none of our players hid, they all came out fighting and went for it

Good points Swiss.
My only on-going concern is that i don't think we create enough goalscoring opportunities. Evans looks ok at the moment. I thought he held the ball up brilliantly against the pigs. Maybe give Clarke a go with him.

Thanks Judge/ Gaz.

Agreed about up front, I thought Ched was great yesterday, he came deep at times and offered some good movement. And who said he can't head a ball.... :)
I'd go with Ched and Clarke and see how they get on.

But what happens if Preston too are "up for it" and we just give them the ball for the last 15 minutes? Any video compliation of our recent performances will feature lots of free headers in and around our six yard box. Doesn't like the current personnel can cure this at the moment so we need to keep the ball away from them as much as possible, that means defending better right from the front and being brave enough to keep possession better if we find ourselves in front.

After a dozen games in, we've maybe played three or four from the top, middle and bottom echelons and we're outside the play-offs. I think we need a bit more than just being up for it.

theyre bound to be up for it ,this is a really big game but apart from the defensive weaknesses you have rightly pointed out i saw a lot of encouraging signs from yesterday that (fingers crossed) if we concentrate on them we should get a result

Me! Swiss. Me.

I thought he was the best forward on the pitch yesterday. He played like a forward, harrassed defenders, made himself available, took on players and beat them, set up a goal and scored a great header. He tired later and got a good ovation when subbed. Wish he would play like that every week though - that's my gripe - he often goes through the motions and that's what gets my goat.

I think Willo was subbed before he was sent off. He was getting tired and mis-timing a few challenges and getting into scraps with pigs because of this. Thought Wilson took him off to use Phillips to stretch them as we were going backwards, conceding too much ground, inviting them onto us. Apart from one good run Phillips settled into almost a defensive position to cover Lowton it seemed. Phillips was at fault for their equaliser since he allowed Marshall to get around him too easily and get the cross in.

The players will be a little deflated after the way it finished yesterday. It is up to Wilson to pick them up. I am sure that we'll be up for it, but fatigue might play a part. We were involved in a very phyiscal battle yesterday (as Swiss states) and players will be tired.

What are Preston like physically? Ate they big lads, that play direct or a footballing team and not that pysical. I am sure Brown (or someone from his camp) will have been watching yesterday (and will have fed back). If I were Preston then I would stick every free kick into our area, every corner under the cross bar etc and really target SS. The better teams will do this until we find a decent goalie.

I fear another defeat on Wednesday.

Don't forget that the players had 11 days 'off' before yesterday's game. They shouldn't be overly fatigued. Don't think Williamson will manage it but happy to see Phillips given a start particularly as his Blackpool connections should guarantee him a goal :) I'd bring Clarke in for Cresswell to get some extra pace in the side and guarantee another goal...

Easy

all results depend on who you play
as said weve some nice winnable fixtures coming up after PNE
Wednesday recent "great" run if you inspect it was 4 wins , 3 of which were against 22nd 23rd and 24th in the table

and we have dropped points in our 3 of home games , but to teams in 1st 2nd and 3rd

Who you get to play makes a big difference

I've just got an inkling that the players might be up for it, and determined to go out there and prove a point and get something.

I think you're right Brownie, the new lads will also be ready to get going.
