And so to the FA Cup...

Good. Who's bothered about winning the match? Big ticket allocation, probably televised, decent ground, good day out in London, get to see Kane at close quarters, heroic defeat and then concentrate on the league. I couldn't give two shakes of a lamb's tail about progressing in the FA Cup this season. :)

I will never understand this defeatist attitude.

Woking or Barnet away please, if not Accrington Stanley away but West Ham or Brighton away would also do nicely.

Cardiff at home. The bbc gets excited with Uncle Neil coming home and makes it one of their televised games at 4.55am on a Sunday morning.

It’s 1-1 with 5 minutes to go. We had hit the woodwork 7 times. Warnock brings on his substitute - a former porkie who is still porkie and also played for bolton, who scores with the last kick of the match.

Warnock does the customary fist gesture towards the kop, the match ends and Gary Lineker comes on screen with a big cheesy grin.

It’s writted in the stars. A million miles away.

Wilder frowns during his interview and says we can now focus on the league.

Pigs away, they’d have to give us 4,000+ tickets

FA rules would be overruled by SYP who would extend the state of martial law in Ukraine to S6.

No away fans would be allowed and the steel fence would be strategically placed.....er...somewhere, in order to justify the collisal waste of public funds.

A national police overtime-fest would be declared and the lads from Durham would be joined by plod from Devon & Cornwall, Cumbria and Essex.

The SAG would all have free tickets of course to 'observe events'.

From a selfish point of view, somebody in London. Chelsea for a change, though West Ham, Spurs or Arsenal would do.

Probably be away at Norwich.

Wouldn't mind Huddersfield away actually. Short journey, nice town, decent allocation and a winnable fixture.

Newcastle away n'all. Fantastic city and I've still not done St. James' Park.

Lincoln City could be fun.

Not really defeatist, more realistic, R.

It's me rationalising the conflicting positions of success in the cup & success in the league. I see promotion, or at least our continued attempts at promotion until it's mathematically impossible, as usurping my desire for success in the FA Cup. If I honestly thought that we could manage success in both without damaging our promotion chances, then i'd be all for it.

We have a shallow squad that can barely cope with the pressures of a promotion, push, I don't want them bogged down in cup competitions, like what we done in 02/03. Also as much I love 'dem blades', and red & white blood courses through my sheffield united supporting veins, football has moved on a lot in recent years, and I see little benefit in progressing to the latter stages of the competition after disposing of a couple of lower ranked teams and meeting a full strength & focused Man City or Arsenal or Spurs or Cheslea and getting dry bummed in front of the nation. Our 1st XI got handed a football lesson by Arsenal's yoof team in '08 and it's something that I never want to witness again. :)

Wanting Liverpool away as the ground in the league I need to do that isn't a huge trip. Don't think I'll bother with the inevitable Hull/Millwall/Bolton away

You would not enjoy a trip to Solihull Moors ground believe me....its literally the wheelie bins space at the end of Birmingham Airport and by the graveyard line into Birmingham New St!!

From my perspective (and im sure plenty of other Worcester fans will) i'll still hold our trip to Bramall Lane as a memorable occasion and for the crowd we had in the BLUT :)
My favourite away song of that season, to Adkins' team, was '''Football League, you're having a laugh", from your fans.
My brother, who was also there, texted me after ten minutes, saying "they're better than us."

We dont want Grimsby home or away , Hundreds of riot Police there yesterday getting the Double time paid , just for l 1600 well behaved codheads , i only went to see Jordan Hallam , never seen so much security for so few fans , they do sing a loud Chip butty song though .
Grimsby away we would be sure of a warm welcome & decent fish n chips

My rules for a good 3rd round draw:

1) Away
2) Not against a near-unbeatable Premier League team (Man City, Chelsea)
3) Not against someone in our own division
4) Can only be a team we've played fairly recently if their ground is accessible / not shit

Huddersfield, Newcastle or Fulham away please.

Remember going to a mind numbingly tedious Preston game, won by a dubious penalty but can't remember who knocked us out. Or did we win it, and I've got dementia ?

Last season, we beat them at home via a Sharp penalty.
Dreadful match.

Ah the FA Cup third round...

.....or the Mid Winter Break as I like to think of it.
