And now they look to scrap it

Proper joke competition.

If it was just a cup competition for the lower leagues and that was it fair enough. There's no restriction on FA or League cup for who takes to the field, so why in this cup?

If they want to revamp it make it Leagues 1 & 2 and include the Conference Premiership, North and South.

It doesn't need to be scrapped. It just didn't need to be fucked around with in order to make 3rd and 4th Division clubs target practice for the big boys B teams.

If you're a small club with gates of 2,000-5,000 then the opportunity to get to a final at Wembley offers a major windfall.

Nee Naw Nee Naw

It gives me great pleasure to say this, as it means we a finally up...

Shouldn't this be posted in other football and sport?

No because i am talking about the fact that now we are up they are possibly scrapping it.

Can we not claim the fine back that was given, due the FA now agreeing it was a load of shit what they'd done by proposing to can the whole thing..

Being fair with the amount of fuckwittery on here now this thread is somewhere low down on crimes against the forum.

Had it been entitled "You'll never believe what happens next" however.....

Wrong! Our under 21s might be playing in it next season or in a few seasons!

Better luck next time thread police!

Wrong! Not if they scrap it they won't.

Better luck, whoever you are.

So easy to say it was a crap competition anyway, now we're out of it. This seasons competition has been crap because of the stupid rules that are different depending on what level you play at.
The previous years, most Blades would have loved to have won it. Me included. Not having won anything for decades it would have been special to see any captain of our team lift that trophy at Wembley. You have to remember where we were and being snobby about it trying to make out its below us when we were there is a shit attitude towards other fans of the lower leagues.
Pleased to be out of it through our move up.

That's about to change br and Wembley in my book is second best to see our home boy Captain lift a trophy at BDTBL?

Whilst I'm so looking forward to that, lifting a Trophy at Wembley gives us bragging rights Nationally to say " look at us and up yours". Imagine that after a Wembley final!

Wholeheartedly agree with this. It's redeeming feature, apart from windfalls for lower league clubs, was that--unlike most facets of the pro game in this country-- it wasn't a vehicle for the prem.

I disagree, yes it would have been nice to win it, but I saw it as most big prem sides see the League Cup, if you're in it you want to win, once you're out you couldn't give a shit!

I can live with them scrapping it (should never have initiated the fucking thing in the first place).
What would really be annoying is if they extended it to Div2 teams just as we'd reached that level. That would piss me off!

Looks like Shaun Harvey's trying to buy off opposition by increasing prize money. Still insistent on Premier League u23 sides being in it.

The competition deserves to die an ignominious death. As does Shaun Harvey.

Harsh.......but fair.

A joke competition that somewhat unbelievably was made WORSE in order to accommodate the big boys. Despite the schmoozing and arse licking, Manyoo, Arse and Chelski all correctly said no.

That left the big glamour teams like Leicester and WBA U23 to make the thing look completely second rate.

The football watching public voted with their feet, or rather their arses, and stayed at home in droves. You can't polish a turd*

When will the powers that be finally realise that they don't know best and that football supporters might just know their own minds?

*Particularly relevant given the colloquial 'Chuck-a-turd Trophy' monicker.

The problem imo in our league and league 2 is that we play too many games, 3 cup competitions plus a full league schedule is too much (imo). Only to be worsen by adding at least two more games from the new format and 5 first teamers having to play.

With the elf competition the challenge was always to stop it being seen as "we're-in-this-because-we're-shit cup". When they put the prem U23 teams in they pretty much engraved that on the trophy.

all the committee saw and still see is the paltry 1.4 m they got off the prem teams
personally think its an insulting amount to buy experience for the kids
Had they put in 10 million ok , but its just not worth the hassle

no one wants to watch wolves under 23s , in wolverhampton
so why would crewe folk turn out to watch them ,
its not hard to work out
