I was at the back of the Westfield yesterday and 'We're on the march with Wilder's army' belting out from the kop sounded awesome, but we seem to have a couple of different versions. Not magnet and maggots territory I know, but is there a definitive version? but, cause, and for me!

We're on the march with Wilder's army,
We're not going to Wembley,
(and, but) we don't give a f**k
(and, 'cause) the Blades are going up
(and, 'cause) United are the greatest football team.

Its surely quite simple and logical GreasyChipBeattie I've expanded on the reasons why

We're on the march with Wilder's army,
We're not going to Wembley,
BUT we don't give a f**k (the reasons for which it doesn't matter (to us) that we're not going to wembley are explained in the next two lines. But is therefore used to offer a contrasting opinion as why Wembley is not important. for example No Clayton Donaldson, But i don't care because we have Brooks)

BECAUSE
the Blades are going up (Because is used to lead into the reasons why Wembley is not important, See the brooks example above, you've said that you don't give a fuck, but this is because you have two other things which render Wembley less important)
AND United are the greatest football team. ( simplest one, this is the secondary reason for not caring about Wembley.)

Beautifully explained SB.
In future, I shall sing with confidence whilst feeling totally prepared to give any of my neighbouring Blades a full and complete explanation for my words of choice.
Now, it would help enormously if you could offer me some advice on how to avoid just mumbling the 'shag your women' bit of another of our favourites.

What happens if we DO get to Wembley?

That would be awkward.

Excuse me oh Greasy One......

I think you'll find that it is 'Wem-Ber-Lee' that we are not going to!
Although I am sure you will have sung 'Wembley' and looked a complete $%*%

The final line is a statement of fact needing no clarification or justification and as such 'and' or 'cause' are superfluous!!!
Of course 'cause' wouldn't work either as for the song to scan and have the correct cadence it needs to be sung as 'cuz'. Although I'm sure you sang 'cause' and further established you as a prize *&^%$ to the Westfield stand choir officianados o_O

You're more than welcome it was a pleasure taking time out of doing actual work to respond to your urgent plea!
