Allowing 2 points for each game in hand, each team in relation to United:

Bristol City + 14 G.D. 30
MKD + 7 G.D. 32
Swindon + 7 GD 24
Preston +5 GD 16
United GD 8
Bradford -5 GD 4
Doncaster - 5 GD 4
Oldham - 7 GD 0
Chesterfield -10 GD 1

United have 19 games yet to play.

In reality, we will do well to win 12 or 13 of those 17 games regardless of form, so a points target of mid 80s is probably about the best we can hope for. Although it's unlikely that the top 3 will do as well in the 2nd half of the season as they did in the 1st (and have to play each other), they still have a 10 point start on us which should be enough of a buffer for at least 2 of them.

We've been here before of course, we had a bit of a panic in the Chumpionship promotion season when Blackwell's Leeds were the chasers but we held on comfortably in the end. And then of course there was Wendy reeling us in on the line so it works both ways.

Still early days and if we keep winning, the teams above may buckle but I'd still rather have the points on the board at this stage.

Let's face it we are relying on 2/3 clubs having a pants second half to the season similar to the pants first half to the season we put in. Unlikely but not impossible. All we can do is win our games.

Yesterday didn't sound like a canter but I'll take a poor win over a a loss anyday.
