I’m sure this has been discussed elsewhere but was watching Phil brown on the championship highlights on channel 5 - he was quite complementary about us but mentioned we were still riding our momentum from last year (not in a dismissive way or anything) as if this was fact.

I’ve seen this referenced quite a lot in other places too. I’m quite sure that there is an element of momentum in our approach and we are clearly building off the team spirit developed last year...

However, I can’t help but feel this does us a disservice. After all We lost 2 of our first three games of the season and imo i don’t think it was until derby that we fully believed we had enough to take out prior seasons approach to teams and dictate things. We clearly worked to improve our approach and that took time rather than a promotion bounce - After that we’ve been the best side in every game imo and we’re unlucky to lose to forest and Norwich.

I cant remember who it was but someone on here posted that CW didn't build a team for the pub league but one for the championship and I am slowly believing that ,momentum doesn't carry a team this far into a season

Agree - I also recall how us and Reading got away mid 2000's and by the time others realised, both of us had gone and uncatchable. There are 3 teams now at present, but can see something similar happening this season. Everyone expects us to blow up - think our management team will have something to say about that. I, and I am sure many others asked the question "are CW, AK and the management team good enough in a level they haven't been before". Think that question is being answered in the most emphatic style.

I don't agree with this notion of it being momentum that's propelled us to our current position. We ARE a VERY good team. A team that's turned over some so-called top teams. Wolves are flying and we turned them over - after we battered the snout nose cunts as well! I still get the feeling people aren't taking us serious because they expect us to fall away at some point. Not gonna happen. Momentum plays a part but things like hunger, team spirit, love for the club, enjoying coming to work, us the fans, Wilder and Knill and Co, desire, most importantly BEING A FUCKING BLAAAAAAAAAAAADE. Nowts better than being a Blade and Wilder has put a team together that fully realises this and they are relishing in it.

Mick McCarthy and Jaap Stam have both said how good United are, in the last fortnight. Both backed Dem Blades to stay in the top six. As for journalists...

Calm yourselves down it's a catch all buzz phrase that means everything that's good about last season is still good this season

I've heard plenty of spot on Analysis of how we play and I'm same sure that every team that plays us has done intensive scouting and research on how we play

Our strong point is our teamwork our belief and our hunger
You can't buy these things and yes a lot of it is down to the continuation of what we built last season so it's fair to say it's momentum
It's not an insult,embrace it
We've got something going that everyone in football wants at their club

We do have momentum ... but it's less and less momentum from last season and more and more momentum generated since August now. Yesterday was the first moment that I questioned if it was time to start dreaming about back-to-back and it was simply the fact that I'd witnessed our team outclass last year's Play Off Final losers. Other than three current PL sides, the team we took apart yesterday were the best team in last year's Championship - and we made them look second rate. Wilder is the second coming at this rate and he has a team full of energy, desire and passion ... but also with a hell of a lot of quality. Two real quality signings - that also buy into the work rate and togetherness - in January and we have a squad capable of doing this. ⚔
