I'm not really into most stats (apart from the basic stats) but looking into these, they're what you would expect given the contrasting fortunes of us and Preston.

Souza is the superior player playing in a better team, so naturally his stats will be better, that being said some of McCann's individual stats are quite impressive.

For a team that nearly went down in the end, McCann's stats are quite impressive, compared to Souza's stats in a team that was in an auto race for most of the season.

Tackles and interceptions p90 (the key stats for players like McCann and Souza) are pretty similar, even if most of the other stats are less.

Key passes p90 aren't much different either, even if completed passes p90 are lower.

Looks like he's got goals in him (more shots, something we've lacked in CM this season, and need more of next season.

This is interesting, but as other posters have said - its difficult to compare the players when one is a team near the top and another is a team near the bottom.

I think it would be more useful to compare these stats across Midfielders at other bottom 8 clubs - which I'm sure is what are new Digital/Data/AI powered owners will be looking to do!

Yeah it's definitely a factor - although you could argue that a team spending more time out of possession is advantageous for the stats of a defensive midfielder.

The three stand-outs in the league for me (besides the unattainables) are Adams (Derby), Alzate (Hull) and Matos (Chelsea, on loan at Oxford)

Matos in particular will be an excellent player. Would be my priority signing if Souza left and Chelsea were open to it.

These stats don't show arieal domminance which is where I'd assume souza beats him quite comfortably.

Souza only beats him by 2% on aerial win %. But yeah, I'd prefer a younger option too.

He's got a lot of experience of playing 30 games a season in unfashionable sides. Almost 250 games at 25. Looks like a reliable back-up option. Knowing Davies won't be fit.
