I still think it's closer to 7.
CF, RW, LW, CM, RCH/RB, LCH. GK.
I think we're likely to see 6 max. They'll go with Brooks & Slimane as the back up wingers, Hamer first choice & maybe the palace lad or someone else.

We've got Robbo & Trusty they'll not bring another LCB unless one of them leave. I'm not saying their good enough, I just dont think they'll sign another.

GK, RB, RCB, CM, RW & CF are all a must - The CM is probably dependent on the Davies fitness situation but we're linked with a lot of CM's so that position seems likely to be filled.

I agree that we are still woefully lacking depth, but after Gilchrist I really can't see us making anything above 5 more signings before the window closes. Not with our sloth like transfer processes, and as we seemingly have to wait until money has been received from outgoing players before we can finalise anything.

Even 5 will be a push imo, but lets hope to god we can get a GK, RCB or RB (depending on how we plan to use Gilchrist), CDM, winger and another goalscorer.

That still leaves us a bit short in attacking areas, but I think it's the best we can hope for. I do hope I am wrong though.

We really will need a few of the young lads to step up as cover this season.

My chat with a long time friend who is a regular at Stamford Bridge

Was just about to post something similar. Cousin's husband is a big Chelsea fan, so I messaged him last night.

His comments mirror the above. Basically said he's very comfortable in either position and that they have very high hopes for him.

"Future captain" was also mentioned.

I agree that they'll duck the LCH, which is a mistake and one they'll have a remedy in Jan if they go with Trusty and JLT.
We need two wingers and a CF, that's not a negotiable if we're going 4-3-3/4-2-3-1, and you'd think they'd be best served as loans due to the better quality you can get. Depending on where Gilchrist has been brought in for we also need a right back or RCH, and a keeper, obviously.

I'm basing on my opinion on how the summer has gone so far with our transfer activity. I hope you're right and we get the wing positions covered, but when you're relying on frees & loans there's only so many deals out there.

Wing cover is likely to come from a Tyrese Campbell type who can play in both positions. Now they've got the Osula money its important that's invested in a player (or two) on a longterm deal that is our assest and not all spent on loan deals.

He looks pretty weak going forward on this, but solid enough defensively…

I could see him playing CB or RCB if we play a 3. He’d be solid at right back but nothing more - assuming when Anel goes he can slot in at CB.

Just can’t see him being our primary RB if our first choice was Hoever… they couldn’t be more different as players (or indeed from Bogle who wilder was praising). So do we even know what we want from the position ??

I think 2 right sided defenders are more of a priority than LCH at present. We've lost Bogle, Egan and Holgate/Basham since last season. We also need to cover ourself for if Anel leaves late in the window.

I agree with you that the other six positions are still badly needed. Squad depth and the ability to have players on the bench who can change the game are as important in the Championship as the Premier League if you want to be in contention for promotion.

Definitely concentrate on the right hand side over the left.

I thought the best loan players didn't become available until right at the end of the window?

This lad must be shit then
Chelsea have about 500 players in their squad though !🤣

i think gilchrist is coming in for the right back spot in a back 4
I wouldn't have thought so, completely different to the Wolves lad, but I haven't heard a single link to a rwb since, so you could be right.
Gilchrist just doesn't look great going forward

gilchrist is a defender hes definetly not a wing back so hes either come to play right back in a back 4 or rcb if anel leaves mind if we go to a back 3 gilchrist anel and souttar would be as good as anything in the championship

Thought it was Grbics first name most of last season, bloke infront of us kept shouting :"Alf uckinkillthee, bastardwank Grbic"??
That made me laugh out load ....

Have any of these fkrs actually signed ?

thought this would be done before souttar, failed medical?
well souttar said in his interview this had been going on for 2 weeks we all know how slow the club are at getting deals over the line i suspect the gilchrist deal is following the same process im confident he will be coming in

Shoutbox reported Gilchrist was at Shirecliffe today along with Souttar. Hopefully he signs up pretty soon.
