Lets judge after 3/4 games,we needed our shite defence bolstering & he's bought someone in,thats what we all wanted so we give him a chance & watch this space..................

The defence was a problem last year, especially centre backs, neither NC or NA addressed it and it has cost us last year and this. Personally I am not getting excited at signing another centre back in March when it was obviously a priority before a ball was kicked. With 13 games to go and our playoff hopes slipping away I would have thought offensive players would have been the priority the type that can help win games, just a thought unless they have thrown the towel in.

I don't get it? Do you mean it tells the story that we aren't very good?

We may or may not make the play offs. It's definitely doable, and we've signed a player in a position where we are weak.

Even those permanently determined to hate every move the club makes, and including temporary members of that club like yourself, can't have much of a gripe with this one.

I don't hate every move the club makes, i'll praise when its due, over the years i've been extremely positive when it demands.

The gripe i have is - whats the point? We've all but mathmatically blown this season... unless of course its a move to save us from relegation.

I would much rather see us use the players in the squad, the ones fighting for their contracts (as it has been described) or is it a move with a view to next year?

Welcome to the Lane. I just hope that the fans give the new guy a fair deal and not stifle his ability. Some fans will be more content with trying to find fault in the player than look far anything positive he may bring.

I'm hoping he makes a positive difference to the remainder of the season which is still there to be won.

Sounds like a very good standard of player. Available to us, and willing to play, due to a particular set of circumstances.

Presumably both clubs think he's fit enough to play 90 minutes of first team football.

Looking forward to seeing him - though I think tonight will not be a pretty game.

Top class player . The type of bloke we have wanted for 2 seasons or more . In at the right time , or a little too late , no idea , but could help steady the ship and provide some proper leadership that's been missing even with Adkins bastard son Hammond in the side.

Positive yes . Happy no.

He's scored 20 career league goals, how may more than sammon is that?
Welcome to the lane Alex

Welcome to the lane, hope you make a difference and show some fighting spirit, then I'd be happy,.........has this lad ever played in midfield could be an option.

Bit of a gamble but fingers crossed he's still the player he was before the injury.

Alex Baptiste, I'll Give him a chance over the next few games because no-one should be written off straight away but bit bemused as wouldve preferred to have given a academy lad a chance instead of a 30yr old double leg break injury returnee who hasn't played for a yr. As why not give 1 of them ago as we are hearing on social media how they are doing very well & unbeaten in a long while, its supposed to be 1 of the best in country. Got to youth cup final 4 years ago & look at recently many top teams are looking for players only to they are under there noses.

If he's fit enough to complete 90 mins then fair enough. I guess if / when Boro go up, they will probably have other players / targets so he would be a great signing for next season if retaining his ability.
He'll be 65 before that happens (Boro go up). UTB

I don't mind the loan signing of Mr Baptiste as long as it dosen't mean the sale of one of our better players.

As usual....:(

Baptiste played in the Championship playoff final against West Ham United in May 2012, which was won by West Ham 2–1. After the match Baptiste was vocal in his criticism of West Ham's style of football saying “They just hoof it, and hope for the best”

You'll do for me mate but S2 might not be the place for you. They ❤️ Hoof round here....

Having used my Rosetta Stone:

Which Academy lad? Or does it not matter? Anyone will do?

Givimarun. Givemallarun.

As others have said no judgement on the player for 3/4 games.

My opinion on the face of it not the profile of a player we need: wrong end of career, serious injury etc.

I've wrote this season off so would have rather used the money to get others out than in.

Also too little too late the damage has already been done

I have no problem with peeps making judgements after 3- 4 games. The issue for me is that the we need a player that can hit the ground running. We don't need a player that has to get up to speed due to not playing a competitive game for months.

We don't have the luxury of waiting for a player to become match fit. This is shit or bust time. We need to be winning now and at the moment we look owt but a side capable of a sustained run which is required to not only get in the top 6, but stay there
