Had his contract terminated. Wouldn't it of been a good idea to keep hold of him for now and let Long go out on loan to get some first team experience? Unless we're in the market for a new keeper....

Not really. No sniff of the first team in 2 years. He is obviously not up to it.

Interesting that we have let Aksalu and Parrino go and loaned out McAllister. Freeing up some wages for a decent signing?

Well that would be good but can't see who we could get with no funds. I'd just like to see some of the younger lads e.g long, tonne etc go out for a month or two to play some competetive football.

Would have been a really bad idea if he is worse than Long...no recall clauses in the first month of a loan if I remember correctly...

Or perhaps keeping the big earners we have.

Except that we had to pay up their wages for if we let them go, right? Or do we pay a reduced amount? I have no idea how this works.

Yes, we pay him something but it will be less than his total wages, on the basis that he is getting a lump sum.

So if MA was getting, say, £2000 a week, up to end of June when his contract expires, had we continued to pay him, we would have had to pay him a total of £26,000. He will have accepted less than that to pay him off - maybe only half if he has another club lined up.

The wording is "come to an agreement" which would suggest that we've agreed to pay at least a proportion of what Aksalu was contractually entitled to. I'd suspect that the amount received will depend on whether he can find a new club before June.

The report mentioned going home to have a back operation.
Maybe he has not recovered enough.
Been there and its took 5 years for me to get back to full fitness, wouldn't have the op though.
