Definitely one of the first names on the team sheet, gives his all and 2 goals in the last 2 games.
Reminds me a lot of another centre half we acquired at a bargain price John Egan, both class players and imo Blades Legends

Hecky didn't have much funds to deal with especially in the champ.

Anel was his most expensive signing at the time but was worth it.

Anel was not great last season but it would appear he also had alot going on behind the scenes family wise/with his dad.

I still think that he is capable of being a top flight CB. At 25 he is about to enter his prime.

I remember reading that Jack Lester was a big reason in Anel joining us too. From their time at Forest. So maybe he will stick around. If we do go up, it would be a smart move for all parties to get a new contract signed.

It was nice to see him marauding forward down the right again after we'd switched to back three.
Seems a shame to lose a big part of his attacking skills as CB in a back four, but not sure how we'd fit the midfield and attacking players in switching back to the old Wilder formation. Also we'd need Seriki fit to be a RWB.

He was even better than this 2 years ago in the Championship.
Then last season he played in the PL and really struggled.

Think he’s got a bit of the Jayden Bogles about him.
Great in the Championdhip, good going forwards
But not good enough defending against better strikers in the Premier league.

This season the Isidor goal for Sunderland showed up Anels weakness against tricky pacey players.
Not sure he’ll attract much interest at a club clearly having a better status than us.
Altho I do think a lot of Abel’s success is down to who partners him….when he had Souttar there Anel looked really good.

More Basham, carries the ball through midfield like Bash rather than Egan. Is he a big enough specimen to do it PL though?

I think it’s clear how much was going on with his dad in the background so I’m more forgiving of that now. Whether he’s good enough for the premier league hopefully we will find out next season

Wilder admitted that Anel was really disappointed that the Napoli move fell through.

There always seems to be some Italian interest in the background, so I wouldn't be surprised if a move there is his wish and the agent's trying to make it happen.

If he doesn't sign a deal very early in the window, we'd be wise to move him on quickly to source a replacement.

He's been steady this season, but he looked much better (and more confident) next to Souttar.
I've a feeling Holding will be coming into the side shortly, hopefully he can strike something similar up there.
