Agreed deal for Stelios Giannakopoulos

Sheffield United have agreed a financial deal to take Greek midfielder Stelios Giannakopoulos on loan from Bolton Wanderers until the end of the season.

But manager Bryan Robson has yet to tie up an agreement with the player - and it is possible he may not want to drop down to the Championship.
The 33-year-old Premiership player was reportedly interested in a move after Sam Allardyce left the club.

But it remains to be seen if Bramall Lane ticks all his boxes.

The Blades are desperate for some midfield support, because of injuries.
Allardyce described him as: "an attacking midfielder who knows how to score goals. His main attribute remains his ability to make late runs into the penalty area and his flair to shoot accurately from range."

This could be a fantastic deal for us, whilst Stelios is no spring chicken he certainly knows where the goal is and would bring a vast amount of experience to our midfield.

This is more like it, i was starting to worry that another transfer window would pass without the siging of that illusive creative midfielder.

He is recovering from a hernia operation so I hope he's fit enough.

Can play anywhere across midfield if I remember correctly which is an added bonus.

Not sure about signing him on a full transfer because of his age, but as a loan signing its great.

I think this could be a tremendous signing. He's just the sort of player we need.

Robson was, er, 'non-committal' when Stelios was mentioned in the first Football Heaven of the season. Well, I think what he actually said was something like "He's the sort of player I'd be looking at.", at which point Paul Walker said "You said that with a glint in your eye!".

Methinks the approach had already been made ..........
