Nigel Adkins wasn't perfect by far, but I think far too much of the blame for his season has been laid at his feet by a board who let his predecessor sign a shitload of bang average players and wouldn't back him in January. Yes, Hammond & Woolford were shit signings (Sammon supposedly all but agreed before NA's arrival), but I don't for a second think those signings would have been first choice if the purse strings weren't tightly closed. Hammond had served him well in the past; how was he to know that his legs had gone if he wasn't getting near Leicester's first team? Even LCFC fans thought he was a cracking signing.
Nigel and his team will have had plans in place for next season. They'll have known what we needed, who they were going to go for, a plan for next season etc. etc. That's down the shitter now, and we'll have yet another guy, with different ideas, a different style, a different way of doing things. Been said by NTFC fans that he needs time to build his team and I have absolutely no confidence that this board will allow him to do that.
I'm not vehemently pro-Nigel, but I'm definitely anti-sacking. I don't see how appointing Wilder puts us in better stead for a promotion push next season, which has already been stated as our top priority. I don't see chopping and changing until we get it right as a viable way to run a football club. In fact, I think it's suicidal.
Che Adams has been here 18 months and he's on his third gaffer. It's just ludicrous.
