Always liked him. Great free kick and a clever player. No doubt there's some daft reason he's not been snapped up by a `champ team.

Apparently he`s one of those very talented footballers who don`t feel the need to make football their raison d`etre.

A kind of Baxter without the nose candy type.

Plus talent, loyalty and commitment.

Totally disagree we SHOULD BE VERY CONFIDENT.
We are shockingly slow going forward.
Clueless in making quick, meaningfull decisions where it matters in the final third and our finishing is woeful.

We got 3 deserved points today, but we are a million miles from promotion material.
Luckily we have time and hopefully a manager who will deliver.
Good result today.
One game at a time.

Agree we could attack quicker. We did a good job closing down today and kept the ball much better in the middle.

Hopefully the likes of Chapman and Lavery will add some impetus in breaking quickly as both look to be quicker than the current lads. Sounded like Chapman played well against Leicester so hopefully he will get a start soon, and lavery too once fit.

I'm here, I agree I'm a doom and gloomer, but feel after this long in league 1 its a fair position to take.

over the moon with 3 points today and better still we deserved it!! but things change quickly in football, lets enjoy it while it lasts.

It's a confidence game , and it's all about building confidence step by step , after Southend , then Wall away ,
People where justified in the criticism of performances of certain players .
I saw the game today and agree with some aspects of both sides of the argument .
We need to speed it up going forward , the number of times I shouted some fucker just shoot was quite often second half .
Apart from the missed tackle first half which almost let them in thought the defence looked stronger , Jesus that guy from wolves is a big fucker , think there is a more robust attitude in our play now .
We deserved to win , I'll take 90 min penos to win games 1-0 every week .
Baby steps but overall , quite impressed with aspects of our play today ,
keep it up Blades ,

It's already been mentioned but no harm saying it again. We may be 17th but we're 5 points off the autos

Baby steps is right
It doesn't take too much for our lot too get over excited does it ?

When the team show that they have a particular brand of football that enables us to recognise what they are trying to do we will start to believe in them again, and heaven forbid actually support them.

They've taken one step up Mount Everest as far as I'm concerned

Until then, it's a win, just a win............. it's a welcome win, but it's nothing more than that.

We all know United well enough by now, next week it could be back to resting on their laurels, convinced that they've done well the previous week and the awful directionless shyte we've suffered for years could return just as easily as todays decent performance did.

I tell you what you find my attitude what??we play shit from start of the season and every fucker gives it ghe we are doomed shit blah blah blah now we have seen a turn today where the team seems to gel and you defend the doom and gloomers and I'm getting knocked FFS what will make you happy ?

Perhaps its the yawnfest of a post you decided to put out there having a pop at other fans of the same club. If we lose next week should we expect a "where are the clappers now". How tedious would that be?

That game could have been won more convincingly if we had midfielders with pace who were prepared to run forward with every attack.
All too often the likes of Coutts & Basham are miles behind our front men when we attack.
Freeman was our best player yesterday because he always ran to support and that's why he scored.
And the only time that Basham got forward he put in the cross which got the penalty.
Our midfielders have to get fit enough to run forward into the box and then get back if we lose the ball.
If we could improve that one aspect , more goals would come from the same amount of possession.

Wow seeing so many positive reviews after today's win it got me thinking where's all the regular members we usually see constantly posting when things are not going so well ??.

They are posting some of those positive reviews. Can't you read?

Once again, it seems that someone can't grasp the concept of people being intelligent enough to criticise bad performances and bad decisions but at the same time being happy that we won and praising good performances.

17th still looks crap , we are equal 13th on points just 7 points from top ☺

Ahh but you have to be in one camp or the other, there is no crossing the divide!

I knew there would be one of these threads somewhere a couple of wins was sure to get a few wet in the knickers
I thought we were overall the better team and deserved the win but lets not get carried away possession means little if you don't score. Early on the defence was a bit poor first when Moore saved well and again when JET chose the wrong option with a man free in our box, we could have gone in three down at HT. Still a lot for Wilder to work on but signs that he is getting it right, I thought Duffy and Done were poor and need to up their game or they might not keep the shirts. We still need a midfielder to get in the box like Freeman did for the goal but we can't moan today Gillingham are one of the divisions better teams so a good win for us.

I'm fairly confident we won't be relegated and a good chance we'll finish higher than 11th UTB

The game being on Sky offered me the chance to see United live, chuffed with the win which we badly needed. Can't fault the work rate, desire of the players all kept going to the end and ground out a result which they deserved. Did I enjoy the game as entertainment, not really, but I can accept that's where we are at the minute, it wasn't pretty under Blackwell but he ground results out. As long as CW can win games to push us up the league and compete for the top six I can live with it, as usual it's all about opinions.

I don't class myself as a "doom & gloomer", preferring to think of it as down-to-earth and embracing realism to be honest ....... but I'm here. ;)

Saw the game on TV, was absolutely delighted to get 3 points, nearly broke my leg on the coffee table when we equalised as I danced round the room like a bambi on speed !!!

However, one swallow doesn't make a summer and despite the great result and a much improved performance I still haven't revised my opinion formed before the Bolton game that we still don't have the squad for a realistic promotion challenge. :(

Still significant weaknesses in midfield, little pace throughout the side and we're not troubling other teams with our forward line, which I just don't believe is good enough for a promotion chasing side.

We also have little / nothing on the bench to change games and the squad depth is worryingly weak to accommodate injuries / suspensions / loss of form.

I thought that the 3 - 5 - 2 formation suited us much better and this may be the way forward for Tufty to improve us and our performances as the players we have may be more suited to a 5 man midfield.

My feelings are that we may bring in a couple in January, although I think that this will be too-little-too-late as usual and we'll end up finishing about 7th or 8th following another frustrating and disappointing season. o_O

But I shall still be there, supporting the Blades as I have done for the last 52 years ....... regrettably that allows me to recognise the deja-vu moments ........ :(

UTB & FTP

To be fair we had one after the first game last season and they're fairly commonplace as a thread.

You started one against Clappers last season!?!

It was a welcome relief and made my Sunday feel a bit better after finding out my lads football manager is being a knobhead with him. So for me, small victories and all that.

Pathetic thread to start.

As if one win proves all previous criticism was unjustified.

As if you actually pay attention to the individual posters and not the general content posted.

Should those who criticise also do so after a good performance just to be 'consistent', would that please you more?

Pathetic is definitely the right word.

To be honest, I find this attitude equally as annoying. No good being 'smug' about it because we won a game. We're 17th and are still yet to score first in a game this season! It's improved sure, but let's not pretend all our problems have gone away and let's not pretend that winning from a last minute gift of a penalty suddenly means we're the best side in the league. Balance works both ways. It's an improvement, but we still have a long way to go!

Agree. If that was the best we'd played all season thank Christ I didn't see the other games!

We have played far better than that under previous L1 managers, Clough's cup games for starters so we are a long way off yet. But, having said that if we really were that bad under Nigello Adkisino by the time we played Atletico Scunthorpe then it was an improvement.

Given Sharp and Clarke's scoring prowess, finishing is still pants. But a win is a win and its 3 unbeaten (if you count the draw v Leics U23 (cough!)) and that's good motoring. Now to get into fourth gear Bladeyboys.

Hardly unique though.

For every "turn the corner" performance there's always a thread of this nature from someone who can't appreciate that we ALL want them to win, even those who can see "all sorts" wrong (either real or imagined).
I find it extraordinary (and extremely sad) that they usually seem to gain a whole bunch of "likes" as well.

The same one Edinburgh called his hardest working player last season and was sat with an ice pack on his knee after he came off?

Wouldnt call him a hard working player, talented yes, looked a bit meaty to me as well.

Yes, fat faced more than anything though. He had a bad injury early in the year which I assume has messed up his pre-season and caused him to put a bit of weight on.
It looks like it's still troubling him. If he gets over it fully I think he'll be a different player and I'd be surprised if he isn't sold to a club in a higher league, assuming Gillingham don't go up this season.
