Adkins out

I didn't want Wilder to be honest, nothing to do with his ability

I thought his past links with the club would have meant an acceptance of shit from the boardroom and this club would ruin his career

After all he's a fan, nobody would accept more shit than a fan, it's in his DNA to accept all the shit that goes with Sheffield United

But as a fan he could probably see what was wrong for a long time and immediately set about putting things right

Being a Blade is no guarantee of managerial success - look at Adams. We're all Blades on here but know fuck all about running a club. What is obvious is that CW had been keeping a close eye on the Blades, even when at Oxford and Northampton (as all true Blades would). This meant that, in just four-and-a-half games, he'd changed the personnel and style of pay and certainly 'hit the ground running'. Top man, is Chris. A legend in the making.

If youd have asked for virtually anyones " thoughts " at half time in the home game against Southend it would have been a miracle to find anyone predicting accurately how the season would have panned out .
That Southend game is is in the top five all time lows with the Blades right up with Cambridge,Wallsall,Wigan and Boxing Day

I remember one of the lads i know getting in late that night due to work . As he came up the gangway he said to me " theyve scored havent they ? " . When i replied that we were three down he just turned around and walked straight back out .

Its certainly one ill never forget .

My only game on the Kop this season, behind the goal as they went in. Told myself that the goals were flukes and mishaps and determined to remain positive (with niggle of doubt). Been on John Street since and BLUT for Chessie. Bring out that Trophy!!

I thought we needed to give a manager a chance to get some stability into the club, even Adkins, and that we would do to Wilder what happened to Micky Adams. I'm still not sure what the major difference is between the two but I'm obviously delighted with this season

It's been a cracking season pal , Im struggling to think of a better one if I'm honest . From where we were and how we all felt after last seasons end of season humiliation at home to Scunthorpe to what we're feeling now will take some beating !

Did anyone hear Gary Sinclair's comment on Monday while we were all waiting for the team to reappear for their lap of honour? Something along the lines of "Well this is a bit different to the end of last season, ain't it?!"

Not arf Gary!

To be fair, Ted Danson said on the way out of that game, “we’ll still be champions. We’ll finish on 95 points”. Turns out he was probably (and hopefully) being too pessimistic.

Personal favourite was, "and the fourth official has indicated that we have 2 games and 3 minutes left in this league".

Fun fact - Nigel Adkins won one manager of the month award whilst he was Blades boss. At the time of writing, Chris Wilder has not won manager of the month whilst he was Blades boss.

I hope and suspect that this anomaly will be corrected at the end of the month.

Yes he won it just before the January transfer window (I think) and we went on to make 0 purchases in that transfer window.

I can't for the life of me think why we failed to kick on like Wigan and Barnsley did.

Anyway it is good to see these threads brought back to life, doesn't get boring at all.

and went straight out and bet on us to be champions, wish Id had more than £5 worth of faith in the prediction though.

P.S. Adkins not got long to get a job in the Championship ;)

I have it on good authority that Wilder wouldn't touch this club with a 10 foot bargepole.

I thought he might've been tempted but the above came from someone who knows him. Sees it as a poisoned chalice apparently.
Your someone led you astray thank god. Im not bothered about people looking right or wrong , just glad its worked out.

Hindsight is a wonderful thing! For the record I would've given Adkins longer. I'm really fucking glad he didn't get it!
It's quite funny to read all these posts next to people's current avatars.
