Turns out Sharp had a painkiller injection in his foot before the match. So he got taken off early. Obviously wanted to carry on playing though.

Adkins not commenting on any transfer deals until next week.

Speaks the right words and a very creditable effort. It's like trying to turn an oil tanker with United, we'll progress when we stop conceding hatfuls of goals to the likes of Peterboro', Colchester, Shrewsbury etc. Why wouldn't the supporters want to know how those alleged transfer talks are going on ?.

No explanation why a centre half didn't make the tackle that Hammond had to make?

Perhaps because we still need at least one more six months in.

I don’t think Adkins needed to explain that, Hammond took it upon himself to cover for Coutts, but in the moment of panic running a full 20-30 yards to make the tackle.


I agree that after Coutts, it was into Collins/ Edgars zone. As much as dragging a centre half out would’ve left a hole, this should’ve been filled by Hammond guarding the centre halfs and dropping into the middle.


Collins/ Edgar cant be blamed for the irrational decision from Hammond. They won't have known what was happening until the penalty was given

As is often the case I thought he caught the mood of the whole occasion really well, from the expense of the tickets and Christmas, to not being downcast, to insisting on celebrating the players rather than talking about Wigan when he was asked.

A very good interview from him.

I liked the way he didn't want to dive into answering questions about transfers. He wanted to focus on how well we did yesterday. He kept the focus on the fans and the players.
