Adkins is clueless

If he goes, we'll have the usual claims that we're 'impatient'. I've never heard Edwards as scathing as tonight. Bury have conceded NINE in the last 2 games, in the second half, we had five up front. Result? One blocked shot in the entire half.

Apparently, Hammond is on £10k per week. Well done Adkins, you've taken us to a new low.
 
We are also paying £10k for sammon, mind have done well as his total contract is £24k / week

Why is it always us?
 
I really don't want us to have to sack him, and he is restricted by the garbage he has to work with, but fuck me, he really does seem clueless. He barely even seems like a football person.
 
A team, as bad as we have been for much of the season, should at least get shots off at the oppos goal.
I don't believe that professional footballers, even ours, are that bad.
Stating the obvious I know, but something not right at this club. And it's not just the shit footballers we have.
Adkins, as much as I'm loathe to say it, has got to take some blame, I don't care who he's inherited, this team is going backwards. Even on one of our better days this season, it's been pretty poor.
Barney is going to have a field day.
 
Could someone sack him, his best days are gone here. Warnock should have been given the job. Good bye play-offs.

Unfortunately he's made too many basic errors of judgement to win me back. His tactics are so wide of the mark its unreal. He is not the motivator we thought he was and his eye for a player has so far been shite. To cap it all he's a right nauseous cunt in his pre/post match interviews.

I've been saying that all along but starting to wonder now. Only heard tonight's game on BP but deary me, sounds like a contender for most spineless United performance in living memory.

While the shit we are in is not primarily of Adkins making I think he should be able to do better than this even with our incumbent squad - which did at least manage to finish 5th last season. If, as it sounded, there has been a total collapse in morale he has to take some responsibility.

Got tickets for Satdi and not reyt looking forward to it.

Not quite. There's an even worse division that we may drop into at some point. Name of league two.
 
Sooner or later we're going to have to stop blaming all the managers.

Maybe when we're on our 27th different league one manager who just manages to help us survive from relegation to league two.

Sooner or later most fans will see the common denominator between all the very many shit managers.

We have never had a manager with his cv before and you dont become bad overnight.
However if you look back to every manager since Robson everyone of them has had the rug pulled away at roughly the same time. After selling a few players at great profits and not replacing them that is., The same is happening to Adkins and the players will know more than us what is going on in the background.. Moral bust be rock bottom. Mcabe in my opinion is the culprit
Mcabe does the same thing every time. He couldnt give a toss abiut premierspent.Or supporters. He would much prefer to rake in the profits every season with us with no risk or outlay. 20,000 in the ground with no money spent.......no ticket for me next season. Like people before me no one likes being taken for a ride.
Adkins buys have been bank breakers. .a few loans and a few small signings.

I don't think that anybody is denying that the board should take the brunt of the blame for the current situation but there is no way that Adkins should be absolved of all responsibility. Pretty much the same squad finished 5th in the league last year and reached the semi's of the league cup with some excellent and memorable performances on the way. Can you really imagine this current team putting in performances like against Southampton and Tottenham last year? The players are almost exactly the bloody same. Adkins has to take his share of the criticism from this turd of a season.

Adkins hasn't 'become bad overnight'. After being fortunate enough to be at Southampton when they had a fabulous bunch of youngsters coming through, he was sacked. This seemed harsh at the time but maybe Saints' board could see it was a flash in the pan and acted before it was too late. 'Success' at Scunthorpe - where, as we're finding out - is hardly the pinnacle of a manager's career (the Third Division should be easy to get promotion from, you just need a fit, organised team and a manager who isn't tactically clueless). An unsuccessful spell at Reading, six months out of work (where nobody was actually hammering his door down for his tactical genius) and he washes up at United. So far from becoming bad overnight, his managerial career has been on a slow slide and we can now see why.

Some will say 'give him time' but I think this is a fear that the next manager could be even poorer than Adkins. Time for what,exactly? Embarassing results against Gillingham, Bury (twice), Colchester, Port Vale, Crewe, Shrewsbury, Peterborough etc. don't lie. Neither does a League record of P: 31, W: 12, D: 9, L: 10 and 45 points out of a possible 93. Give him time and he'll have us in the fourth division.

'A few loans and a few small signings'? Adkins has probably had the biggest budget in the division. Sharp? A no-brainer. He wanted to come and is perfectly adequate for this level. Hammond? £10k a week according to RS last night. Say it quickly and it doesn't sound like half a million a year. Chuck in Brayford and Sharp's wages and I guarantee that those three are on more than any of the aforementioned clubs' total wage bill.

So he's had 'the rug pulled away'? That goes for every manager in England. Do you think Liverpool wanted to sell Suarez and Stirling? Or - nearer our level - by selling Rhodes, Blackburn have ensured that they have no ambitions for promotion. The trouble with selling players is replacing them with utter dross like Higdon, Sammon, Hammond etc.

No doubt some may ask, 'So who do we have next?' Well, this isn't our job. Far more professional and knowledgable people exist on our board. :rolleyes: OK. Not being serious, but Keith Edwards showed a passion last night that our dug-out has never had. He can see where we're going wrong.
He may be tactically clueless and incapable in the transfer market, but what's new?

Maybe our non-activity in the JTW was because the board wasn't prepared to let Adkins piss away more money on his old mate's retirement plans. I'd say, even though our 'promotion charge' has been utterly de-railed, the remaining 15 games of the season will define our immediate future. Start playing with a free-flowing, swashbuckling style and maybe the slump in season ticket sales won't be too disastrous. But this step-change will not happen with Adkins in charge - we've had ample evidence of that.
 
After hearing his latest post match interview he really is too nice of a guy, the players must love playing for him, you just can't seem them getting a mouthful off him at all and keep getting away with it.

I voted to give him another season in another thread, starting to question whether that would be right. Would we be happy to let him bring people in over the summer who he wants? Going on the people who he has brought in, it doesn't give me much confidence tbh.
